so i was doing some rough math and i’m curious what this will mean for condi gearing come expansion time.

per the trait fell beacon (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fell_Beacon) we get 7% expertise based on condi damage. lets say we have 1700 condi damage and we’re taking lingering curse. 1850 condi damage and 50% scepter condi duration

currently on my necro I have 420 expertice with mostly viper and some sinister. With the 7% trait that bumps up to 549 (extra 129) Then add in the 225 we get from 3 shades being out and we get 774 expertise (minus fractions)

with 15 expertise =1% condi duration thats 51.6% increese durration right there.

then 4 nightmare runes and 2 trapper runes for another 25% and with current gear, no food, beta traits i’m up to a nice 76.6% condi duration. All condi durations. yay for burning.

Take some pizza with you and have fun.

might actually be switching back to some sinister gear for more crits, condi dmg from target the weak and thus even more expertise.

thanks Anet

It’d be 150 Expertise most likely in Raids if you’re running without Sand Savant. You can’t keep up 3 Sand Shades nonstop sadly.

I do love that Trait though because it’s Expertise and not just Condition Duration. We have Bleeding, Torment, and Burning now. Before it was mainly Bleeding. So a Condition Duration buff to everything is great.

I do hate using Nightmare and Trapper Runes though. I love Rune 6 sets if they are good. I’m hoping in Path of Fire we get a Rune with Condition Damage, and Condition Duration as main stats, then a +5%-10% Condition Damage bonus when above 90% health or something. Would probably be better for +5%, because +10% may be overpowered >_>.

FYI, 2 Trapper, 4 Nightmare is 30% condition duration, not 25%.

Vipers Scourge can reach 100% condition duration on all conditions without consumables. Not permenantly unless you run Sand Savant, but you can do it.

a new rune focused on all condi’s would be really nice with a 6 set bonus thats not just one thing or something that doesn’t benefit us

It would most likely just have expertise on it. There have been Runes shown with Concentration for instance in the Demo.

Would be less than flat out percentages, but might be fine.

Unless you use Sand Savant you wont be able to keep 3 shades up.

Had no troubble at all after some practice to have 3 shades up, wont run big shade in PvP nor WvW to kitten my dmg and area control. Also manifest the shades is one of the Scourges few ways to deal with range dps, using the big shades gimps that alot.

I don’t think having all 3 shades at once is the best way to play. Imo you should have 1 in reserve most of the time. Summoning all 3 on cd wasn’t more effective from my humble experience, most of the time. Ofc I might be wrong in the end, need a lot more practice.

It depends what u are fighting imho, if u are being attacked in Melee having them all up is nice to get that area control and 15% inc dmg reduction, but vs Range dps as I said i use them to place on the target as he moves around, kinda like a Staff Mark. Vs range I dont wast them.
