so...that defiance bar we don't get
I was bummed at first, then I saw Reaper Shroud’s #3, and I was less bummed.

Reaper #3 is like a personal stand your ground.

kitten , Cogbyrn. You’ve been on point lately. Thumbs way up for you
can it last if you exit the shroud?
if so, then, i suppose i agree

Yes, Robert confirmed it in the livestream. So yay!!
And that defiance bar probably goes to the golden child Warrior

Curse anet and their multiple golden children that are not necro
RS#3 is definitely a good one, but did everyone forget Foot in the grave already? More stun breaks and 3 stacks of stability.

I thought he confirmed that it stayed if you broke the armor to induce fear. I don’t think he said anything about leaving DS entirely.

I haven’t forgotten. Combining that with the RS #3? Technically you can skip Death Perception and still get quite a bit of crit out of vuln stacking and the Major Reaper trait, so you won’t even necessarily lose that much if you go from Death Perception (I can’t abbreviate it or I’ll feel bad) to the new trait, and you’ll gain a stun break + 3 more seconds of Stab that you can use to get a mobility skill off, or get your spin off, or whatever you like.
It’s actually a surprising amount of stability/stun break potential now. Also, the Shout that applies weakness on everything, plus gives some burst might, plus breaks stun, just makes me really happy on the inside. I want to be running around in the middle of a group of enemies right now.

Let’s be honest though, Reaper Shroud 3 is stronger than any form of defiance we ever would have gotten.

i’m not complaining that it isn’t beastly, i just think defiance bar would be much more threatening for a “horror movie monster”
but
as people have stated
i agree
i’m perfectly content with the amount of stability we have now

This is the conclusion I’ve come to after thinking about it as the night progresses. Plus, I love the flexibility of being able to go with the longer duration stability, or blow it for a fear.
Delightful little ability they added in there.

“however many stacks were lingering”
so unfortunately, not the pulsing itself
but, still, pretty great

My personal guess is that the Defiance Bar will go most likely to Engineers, since warriors already have relatively easy access (at least easier than engineers) to Stability, and along with the use Hammer, Engineers will be engaging into a more brawler type of approach, Stability seems more properly placed for them in that case.

I’d love to see Engy gets it. With the hammer, engy could become quite an interesting melee kind of brawler in their specialization.
The stability on RS #3 is useful, but I’d preferred some kind of defiance bar. If the necro was invulnerable to CC effects while they had life-force, and each CC stopped took a chunk out of the life-force pool in a similar way to how the new defiance will work, that would be more interesting than getting more stacks of stability. There was supposed to be more interesting ways to interact with life-force. It could replace Unholy Sanctuary so it is available to base necros, and because of the proposed changes to Blood Magic it’ll probably mean other siphons would need to be rebalanced because of it.
