I have an idea, that will no doubt be ignored by the devs and fade in to oblivion, on how to make this trait more impactful.

What if instead of it giving us a copy of regeneration while in death shroud, it gives us health per second depending on the percentage of our missing hp.

Lets say it gives us a static 100 hp + 20 hp for every 10% hp we are missing, so if you enter ds when you are at say 45% hp you get 200 hp/sec, and after you get healed to 51% you now instead get 180 hp/sec, 61% 160 hp/sec, or 280 hp/sec if you are below 90% hp.

The 100 hp would not scale with healing power but the 20 that you get per missing 10% would, but very poorly, like the rest of necromancer’s healing power scaling.
And also instead of that clunky you get put in to death shroud when you take a lethal blow only to die 2 sec later deal, we get protection on entering death shroud say 3 sec (4 because of the 30% boon duration).

Neat idea but sounds like allot of extra calculations for the server to do.

Frankly at the end of the day I think they just need to rework how death shroud works.

As is it acts like a second life bar which can be very good in 1v1 but horrible in team fights.
Every other damage mitigating tool in the game just reduces damage by a set % and thus is just as good in a team fight as it is 1v1.

If they changed death shroud to just reduce all damage taken by a set amount & had life force degrade over time in death shroud instead of via damage taken then it would be much easier to balance.

Then they could give necro’s allot of things like life steals/siphons etc.. & some heals in death shroud because it wouldn’t be totally OP in 1v1 scenarios but would still be reasonable in team fights.

Regen / (Current Health / Total Health)

A really basic one that increases regen based on total health lost.

Unholy Sanctuary is fantastic. It doesn’t need any changes. It is godly in WvW, trivializes some PvE, and addresses a major weakness in Pvp.
