whats impact to gear from the Apil changes ?
I don’t expect it to change a whole lot, really. I think if you’re dead set on dhuumfire that you have less reliance on crit, and depending on sigil changes that may be true even moreso. But I’m not sure we can say that for sure, yet.
Power builds won’t really have a lot change gear wise, but I know for myself with the reduction in crit damage that I will be exploring other gear sets, but that isn’t 100% because of the change, just partly.
I can’t say for sure but depending on the spec it does seem that an argument for a celestial hybridmancer might have gotten stronger. I do think a cleric or apothecary support build would be possible as well.
Keep in mind that all gear/trait changes haven’t been announced yet! While the new GM and some of the larger changes were in the last Ready Up, ANet has been very vocal that the release info is a sample and not complete.
That said, I’m thinking condition builds will continue to be strong with them also offering healing. I’d say Rabid is a good choice for someone looking to explore.
Boosts to Death Shroud are also on the table, which complements existing gear. Personally, I’m probably going to keep my existing gear and just enjoy any buffs that come my way. A good balance of PVT and Zerker is still my favorite, though perhaps I can drop a Vit piece due to the extra survival from death shroud.
If the only change to armor is ferocity then basically all other gear that does not use crit damage gains 10% more survivability indirectly
Carrion will now be way better than rabid for condition builds. One seconds bleeds aren’t going to be as valuable as the power damage because dhummfire won’t proc on crits. This is also probably why they gave it a 3 second burn instead of 4.
extra dodges, real stability, mobility skills,
burst skills, sustain, or good support. GG ANET.
