Why doesn’t this heal get used more often? This heal gives the ability to load up on life force before a fight, which is a common complaint about the necro profession. Having guaranteed 10% life force before any fight at the start of a match is pretty handy.

Largely becuase its a condi heavy meta atm if I had to guess. With so many OTHER reapers around having every tool to deal with condis possible can be a life saver. Meaning consume conditions comes in handy.

Signet of Vampirism is also pretty good due to the corrupts. When your fighting things like reapers with there pulsing stab or tempests/scrappers with there boon uptime having a way to reset might stacks or corrupt stab to a fear is pretty big.

Thats just my take on it however. Necro is my secondary class so people that main necro likely have different perspectives on it.

It’s a very good heal and can be at the lowest CD (or close iirc) of any necro heal. It generates LF, can have added life steal: it’s an all around great heal. But as said before, the condi heavy meta makes consume conditions very hard to pass up since the more condi on you means more healing, and it ignores poison. The only downside is the cast time, the vuln and blind are easily manageable. IMO, consume conditions is one of the best heals in the game.

I’ll probably always choose NCSY over CC against live players. Reliable means of building life force has always been an issue with condi necros. I’ll slot other means of condi cleanse.

I’ve died too many times from not able to consume conditions, I’m not making that mistake again. Yes the shout heal is very good, lifeforce, short cd, yada yada yada. I would love to use it. But the ability to consume all the cancer on you at once is just hard to let go.

Its pretty good on khylo cause you will proc 5 targets most of the time cause random hitboxes around the map (same with all other shouts), but on other maps it generally sucks when 1v1/2v2 compared to other options

I used to use it on defensive builds, but now that even crusaders is gone those have no point anymore.

It also has really good cheesy synergy with Grenth runes. It makes your heal inflict like 5ish seconds of chill AoE, with wanderers I think, making for a lot of extra pressure.

People prefer consume conditions because of heal potential and cleanse. Over the past couple days though ive been trying it out and getting my cleanse elsewhere, which actually works out well with the shout trait on Reaper.

Doesnt improve the class much but at least it can work if you have your people there. Then again that can be said about just about anything you take on the class.

It’s potential is reliant on number of targets you hit with it. General rule of the thumb – most utilities in PvP have to be always good and flexible and that Shout heal isn’t.

The shout heal is considered when there are no condi mesmers or necros on the other team which is really rare these days.

Shout heal sees play because it generally lends itself to higher sustain, and it’s harder to interrupt, which becomes more important as you start to play against players of higher calibers. In general, I’d always recommend Consume Conditions if the opposing team has two or more Necromancers, but with only one Necromancer, etc., the decision is up to you.

I pretty much always use YSIM in pvp. I’ve tried going back to Consume Conditions but with 1.25s cast time, I have a difficult time getting it cast. I lag, I interrupt myself, or someone else interrupts it.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Consume conditions is just better. I was super excited about YSIM at first with the low cast time and recharge, (not to mention LF generation) but it does not heal enough. When you are covered with conditions YSIM does not really help you, even if you use rune of the soldier. I have tried them both and have always had better results with consume conditions.

I can’t go back to CC with it’s atrocious cast time and CD. Price for condi cleanse is way too high and it’s not reliable enough.

YSIM provides high amount of LF so I can stay longer in shroud waiting for the next YSIM or putting extra pressure (especially when RS2 can AoE corrupts 2 boons every 5s). With CC I really feel naked, being always LF deprived…

If opposite team has more than one condi, I switch YAAW or Rise for plague signet. Otherwise, soldier runes + shout trait + staff 4 + passive transfer (+ Suffer) is more than enough to deal with average condis.

A little off topic but playing soldier/shouts (or just Suffer) is very handy when you need to land the elite but just got blinded.

Balance team is a bunch of clowns, hurting the game to the full extent of their abilities.

YsiM does garbage healing if you have a tick of poison though. If you’re having trouble with CC being interrupted then drop RS while infusing terror is up while you still have stab and you won’t be interrupted. If you get interrupted by something like revenant staff 5 then you had no hope of getting the heal off either way.

So, baseline numbers with no Healing Power (cast time + recharge are used for time period):

Your Soul is Mine: 219.52 Healing/second untraited
Consume Conditions: 167.68 Healing/second untraited, +23.168 per condition.

With 3 conditions removed, Consume Conditions has higher Healing/second, but this is not counting the life force from “Your Soul is Mine.”

Traited values:
Consume Conditions: 255.06 healing/second, +34.07 per condition
“Your Soul is Mine!” 0 hits: 242.93 healing/second
1 hit: 263.66 healing/second
2 hits: 268.87 healing/second
3 hits: 313.02 healing/second
4 hits: 342.71 healing/second
5 strikes: 376.73 healing/second

Again, life force gain is not counted.
