I’m a frontline Greatsworder / Axe/Warhorn buffer, using my bear and myself to soak up hits for my party.

Currently playing it as a critical build with longbow and greatsword. I love the CC and condition damage removal in the Wilderness Survival trait line. ‘Shared Anguish’ and ‘Hide in Plain Sight’ are a really fun combo, as you both lose the control effect and become invisible at the same time. The grandmaster traits are also great, as you can either go for Empathic Bond to remove conditions, or Bark Skin against direct damage.

Used to run 0/25/20/10/15 here.
Ditto for the Hide in Plain Sight/Shared Anguish Combo.
Back when QZ worked, having 2s of quickness every 15s was a nice way to keep the pressure on.
Nowadays I’m testing this for lulz:
0/30/20/20/0
Traits:
Agility Training/Trapper’s Expertise/Trap Potency
Shared Anguish/Martial Mastery
Nature’s Protection/Two-Handed Training
Running with a GS and Axe/horn combo.
My choice of traps are Spike and Flame.
0/25/0/20/25 axe/axe to sword/horn or LB or SB – sanctuary armor / signet of renewal + frost trap + utility I’m in the mood for. endurance on MH weapon 3x might on offhand if applicable.

A whittling ranger becomes viable by forcing his opponent to whittle
for pve, it doesnt matter. you can run with 0/0/0/0/0 and still faceroll through most of the content.
