I just want to clarify this. I realize how suicidal it is at times due to the animation locking, but running dungeons today I was talking to a warrior and they commented that I’m one of the few who runs the 1H sword build. They also said it’s the “highest single target DPS” in the game. I thought thieves followed by warriors held that title. Where abouts do we rank on the list?

Warriors and thiefs do more dps. Followed probably by guardians and engis. Rangers are probably next. Even if your pet is dead you will do more dps thab mesmers.

I don’t really know how rangers stand compared to warriors and thiefs since the last major patch.

1h sword for ranger though is our highest dps weapon. There are quite a few dungeons where you would want a ranged option. However for easy paths like CoF p1 you can easily run melee/melee and absolutely melt mobs and bosses. It’s also really really easy on paths like this to keep your pet alive, even the squishy ones.

I am pulling this out of my kitten but I thought 1h sword and jaguar was the highest single target sustained DPS. We don’t burst, but you can mow down enemies ad nauseum with sword autoattack and a cat.

No the cat can do some sick dps but the ranger itself will do more damage.

One hand sword and Dagger is a must for CoE if timed right you never get hit by Alpha.
