I must say i love Thief, but i was forced to reroll to Ranger for the simple reson :

1h Swords attacks, and attack animations look crappy to me.

I know it is my personal taste, but still i think a lot of you noticed, how strange Sword attacks look somethimes.
Like : Hundred blades, Mesmers Blurred Frenzy or Thiefs “Auto” Attack.

I had to look in to the thing i realized some things why are they disturbing. this is what i personally found amiss:

1, There is only 1 tipe of 1hSword and it looks like a Long sword, when in fact some classes should be using short.
2, Not only all 1hSwords look like a long sword, but for resons they look way to long, when used is some skills.
-This might be becouse of the model is way to long by itself
or the animation makes it look to long,
or the effect of the animation the envelops the weapon.

Or all togather.
3, Classes tend to lift the sword way to high and leans way to forward while swinging it.
-Instead of using it araund belly area.
-Or keeping it moderately close to character (so they can react with it asap like in real)

Why do i post this on Ranger forum? I tell you why. Becouse rangers “auto” attack is a bit strange and seems to be fixed in some way when using 1hSword, unlike other classes.
Can anyone explain this to me? Does anyone agree with this?

LOL seems to be “fixed”. You have never played a ranger obviously.

Sword 1 is broken as hell. It CCs the PLAYER better than anything you are fighting. You want to roll? Sorry, nope. Oh you did manage to roll, now shoot back in here like a bullet and eat that aoe.

Hmm true. I did give it a shot…its quite useless.
But i was talking abaut the animation and the look of the attack owerall. Not the Mechanic of the weapon or ranger itself.

The look is great. It feels like a reallyi cool attack chain. The problem of course is that the mechanics behind it are broken.

I do agree about the looks though, very nice.

I agree with GSSBlunaspike 100% I love the actual sword but it so unreliable for accuracy and hopping about all of the time. Can’t use it in dungeons ’cause I end up diving in and gaining aggro from a million other mobs or just shooting off of a bridge…

If the sword #1 got fixed I’d definitely use it in place of my greatsword

I love sword. I use sword/axe for my melee setup and it’s amazing. When I need to get out of melee range Hornet Sting is awesome for that. Swap to my ranged setup and go to town.
