Is really bad.

You look at the warrior greatsword with 100b giving them easily 10+ stacks of might for a longer time at the much lesser cd of 100b, and this trait is a joke. My ranger sits at around 60% crit chance anyways and with warhorn has much higher fury uptime.

This won’t make greatsword any more usable.

It’s a 3-5% (depending on stats) damage increase. Together with the +5% damage, it’s pretty close to those Guardian +10% weapon damage traits. I don’t see the problem.

Considering that the Trait is 20 points down the Nature Magic line (Vit/Boon Duration) I don’t necessarily think that this trait was meant for the Greatsword as much as it was for the Spear.

Either way stop comparing classes to each other in terms of capabilities, there is a reason we’re called Rangers and not Warrior 2.0

Twenty deep in NM for this trait probably means you’re running a power sustain build, which means your crit chance absolutely does not sit at 60% normally. You also are going to have boon duration to boost this to (at least) four seconds, but likely more.

It also means you have Fortifying Bond, so all this fury goes to your pet. On top of already having Hilt Bash to increase pet damage, this is gonna be really nice for guys running x/x/30/20/x builds.

I run 20/20/5/25. Fortifying bond is a must in pve if you want your pet to get any meaningful amount of boons.

What most of you don’t seem to understand is that it will take far more than a 3% increase to put the greatsword in competitive terms to the mainhand sword or shortbow.

Seeing as Anet uses the warrior as the standard to measure all other classes against, he has every right to compare our pathetic traits to other classes, especially the warrior. We’ve needed good trait compression and traits moved into proper trees for quite some time now. Instead we get nefs and mostly useless buffs.

Fury is nice for skills like Maul but considering the placement of this trait it’s definitely for bunker/support builds looking for a little extra damage. It’s a nice trait but definitely not my build preference to spec support with a greatsword since ranger support is best used in PvE.

Exactly. Power/pre rangers get 5 sec of fury every 10 sec (on weapon swap) for having 15 skirmishing. After I noticed that and switched to weapon sets where I’m constantly swapping, my fury uptime (with warhorn on one set) is close to 100%.

0 10 30 30 0 full bersi in wvw here. with horn/sword + gs and +75% boon duration you can keep up protection, might, fury, regen, swiftness and vigour nearly all the time. can be pretty nasty for everyone you face.

I really can not see anyone in their right mind using this trait.
So many better ways to get fury.
Also the great sword is not some mighty dps weapon.
Would have been loads better to get protection on hit.
If you want to do Power based damage there is no way you will go 20 deep for this.

It’s been my version of what Puandro (not sure if anybody remembers, but he went 0/15/20/15/20 full melee with a healing hybrid like this) ran.

Outside of this build though, I wouldn’t even touch the trait.
