You know what I really hate about the QZ nerf? You can’t no longer rez group as fast as before!

The healing (rez) with QZ was perhaps the only viable contribution from rangers in groups. We could rez fallen allies fast. But now, it’s awful!

The ranger got even more unwanted in groups! Let’s face it, the DPS bezerker use of QZ was never as good as other professions, but we had at least a decent rez skill combined with QZ. What do we contribute with now?!?!!?

This is exactly my point. Pretty much the only solid use we had to a party over other professions, and used right it was great. Now the only thing we have to offer, at all, is our AoE heal/water field. Which is great, sure. But it is hardly a reason to ever want a ranger on your team over something else. I don’t want Rangers to be stupid easy or stupid strong, but I would like to ever see anyone who isn’t completely stupid say “If only we had a ranger right now.” I’ve had plenty of those moments where I or a member of my group says that about pretty much any other profession.

I have friends who love having me in groups partly because of the fact that I could quick res people in situations where mob/boss AoE would otherwise have made it lethal to attempt so. I honestly can’t justify running my Ranger with those friends anymore over other professions I have. Sure, they are my friends and they aren’t going to tell me not to bring my Ranger, but I would feel a little less than useful.

I’ll bet Anet didn’t even imagine how huge the negative impact of QZ nerf affect the ranger.
I don’t think they considered that QZ was used by rangers mostly as a group healer skill. And that this feature was perhaps the only viable contribution from rangers in a party (dungeon/fractals)

They argument that the QZ nerf is due to spike damage that can’t be evaded:

“In PvP, this speed gives most players almost no chance to react to incoming abilities and allows for massive spike damage in extremely short periods of time. In PvE, the increased attack speed can trivialize a lot of content that would otherwise provide a good challenge. Therefore, we are reducing the speed that quickness allows by half of its current potential while slightly increasing the duration on player-activated skills.”

So, obviously, as far as it goes for the ranger, they did NOT look at the whole picture!

This would not be such a big issue if ranger had tons of other skills/utilities that a group would benefit from. But we have NOTHING else to contribute with!

Prove me wrong Anet! Enlighten me, maybe it’s me who doesn’t know how to play as a ranger!?

No, the probelm is with anet.

Rather than this setting off a huge red flag that particular classes deal way to much kittening damage, they decided it was better to nerf a buff that lent some sense of equality to the battlefield. Thieves didn’t need quickness to deal 5k backstabs and warriors didn’t need quickness to run around with both tank and spank. They’ll make due just fine where as we needed it for almost every single decent damage build and took a 25% damage nerf because of it, on a class that is near bottom if not last in terms of damage output.

The least they could have done would be to double the duration of the effect to balance the reduction in potency but I guess that’s asking too much.

Yeah they didn’t really think things through what this general nerf would mean to rangers. Even with the old version we couldn’t burst ppl down like a thief or a warrior could, not even close. Yet we get hit by the big nerfhammer (again) for something that only affected other classes.

They added 1 second and a stun breaking ability to compensate. That didn’t compensate anything.

They left our BM 5 point trait in the dirt, not even adding to the already very short duration of it. We got nerfed harder than other classes because of this.

All in all, this patch was again primarily a nerf to rangers (pet’s F2 not resetting on pet swap, why the Fxxx did they found that necessary in the first place?).

Balance team needs new blood, time to switch staff around.

I’m getting the feeling there is no one on the balance team that actually has the ranger’s best interest at heart. That, or the dev that was responsible for watchin over us left because he couldn’t take being ignored.

There are only two of them, Jon and some other unnamed individual.
And I think we all know how much Jon loves rangers…
It’s just enough to boost banners while still leaving the ethereal Janga towers untouched for another month.

…I stop playing for a bit to try out the defiance beta and come back and rangers get nerfed again… lol.

Did they not realize how much of an effect the quickness nerf would have on rangers?

You thought crossfire + qz was borked before? now it’s worse.
Long bow + qz? don’t even worry about putting it on your bar now.

Stun breaking is good, don’t care for the great sword changes because again I do not play a ranger as melee. Come on anet, do you want us to not use bows anymore?

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?
