A question for the BM's
I think it’s a bad link.
I’m curious to know what gives you 50 percent crit? I think mine only has like 20 or 30.
Yes, you will be able to get kills. I run the build and WvW and get plenty. Your dps won’t be as good as it is in the beserker build (I use full clerics atm), but the most of your damage will come from your pet, hence it being called the B(east)M(aster) build. I use jaguar and jungle stalker as pets, and they can hit 2k easily, sometimes nearing 4k. Your real burst will be sicking your pet on your opponent.
Think of your pet as your mainhand weapon, especially in this build. It provides the best burst a ranger can get, no matter what the build really. Anything we do can be supplemented by a 4k hit from your pet. Some claim they can reach 16k damage in pet burst.
You will get kills. It will be a very slow kill most of the time. Once in a while you can’t get a kill. A few times I have chased a Warrior or Guardian who didn’t want to engage (places to go apparently). chased them across the entire map plunking them with SB and they were never close to dieing.
I run a 0/30/30/10/0 build for WvW and find it does very well for my play style. It allows me to swap between pretty much any weapon set I am going to need depending on the situation I plan on entering (keep defense, siege, zerg, roam, etc.). I use zerker gear and knights melee weapons, zerker ranged.
I get plenty of kills and survival is pretty good too.

two builds that i use:
20/30/0/0/20, berseker/soldier’s gear, LB/GS/cats. used for long range sniping and sieges.
0/10/30/10/20, clerics gear, GS/sword/dagger/birds. used for skirmishing, taking points, bunkering in smaller engagements.
both builds have amazing burst. a note on pets. you dont need 30 in BM. Natural Healing sucks, and the extra 10 points are usually better spent elsewhere. also, no need to go 30 into marks. just go to 20 for piercing arrows. skirmishing is essential for LB builds for the LB CD reduction (more rapid fire, more barrage), and the crit.
runes for the top build should be Thief for precision and additional dmg while flanking. cheap too. runes for my bottom build should be Dwayna for healing.

I often run this build in WvW (although I drop the 10 to 5 and put the other 5 in BM, I find the swap of pets for the quickness to be natural and invaluable to me now) and also a full BM build.
I find both builds deadly and the main reason I don’t play my thief or warrior much.
I did used to run with traps but find that they are just not worth it in WvW and much prefer some decent signets (speed, healing or condition removal depending on what I’m doing) or Lightening Reflexes.
I run either 0/30/30/5/5 or more often 10/0/30/5/25. The latter with a focus on power, toughness and healing. I drop the last 5 in BM and pick up Steady Focus, that with Peek Strength and Natures Wrath as well as your boosted pet means you’re very hard to kill but still can put out a decent output of damage when needed and with tricks like Zephyr’s Speed you can output a fair amount of burst.
Of course, other specs and classes will out damage you, but that’s not the point, your damage is decent, your pet is a killer (watching people run from my birds burst while I’m ressing people never gets old) and I’m nearly always the last one standing.
My heal is Troll Unguents, the trick to using this is to use it all the time every time, you don’t wait until you need a heal, as soon as you enter a fight and take some damage, pop it, the low cool down and very powerful tick of health will keep you at almost full health, after 10 seconds your other regens will be keeping you alive (and you should still have high health at that point) you can use it again in another 15 seconds.

I find Natural Healing to be very useful for the purposes of keeping my pet alive when I have it fighting something in the distance or targeting a siege weapon, especially because I like to run with canines; their high toughness makes it really add up; the slight self regen really doesn’t hurt either, I also like the 25 BM trait because I like to stack some healing power on top of traits as well. In my SPvP build for instance I have almost 2200 power with only 10 in Marksmanship.
