A solution to dmg/pet?
Would it not make sense to bump our raw damage a bit when our pet in a downed state?
It absolutely would not make sense …. and we already get a Might boon for the "pet falls below 50% health* trait anyway which is probably a lot better if you can teeter-totter it between 50% consistently… Sorry, but “Rewarding” Players for neglecting their pets entirely is just plain BAD design and WH should feel bad for doing it.
No what would make a lot more sense is for the Pets to be given SUPPORT SKILLS while they’re in Heel Mode. That way the longer they stay alive, the more boons your whole nearby Party gets. Just look at Reef Drake when it’s switched to Water mode. It gets a Feedback Bubble. Coding that to appear as an F2 skill while it’s in Heel mode personally would take me all of 5 minutes to code and I’m not even well versed in C++

Maybe some of us, ilr, don’t want to have a pet to begin with. Maybe we just like being ARCHERS. Not hunter/ranger/druid/tree hugger/ect
Now there are only 2 classes that can use a Longbow. Ranger, and Warrior. I play both and BY FAR I prefer Rangers longbow. The warrior longbow works like a theifs shortbow, one big stupidly slow attack that misses more then it hits. At least I can reliably tag half of my rapid fire shots, and my auto attack hits like a truck. 2k ish a hit versus my war with same stats @ about 1.2k.
They would have to totally overhaul the warrior longbow to make it stack up to a Rangers longbow. So lets just forget about wars then.
You know the word Ranger evokes a wide range of mental images. Of course the hunter with his pet but also the sword slinging ranger ala Aragorn. A ranger in D&D was primarily a archer, he didn’t have a pet. In fact D&D rangers don’t get access to a pet till much later in the game. Druids are the traditional pet class.
So semantics aside, given the wide range of desired playstyles, it would make sense to make classes as versatile as possible, rather then making many many narrow defined classes.
But I know, min maxers, can’t stand being anything but the most optimal possible build. So we gotta make sure that having a pet isn’t any better or worse then not having a pet out. If that were the case the only people left complaining are role players who think their digital pet actually has feelings or needs to be ‘cared for’.
