ANet, balance patch and no shortbow changes?
Ranger shortbow is not the most underpowered weapon in the game.
Ranger shortbow is not the most underpowered weapon in the game.
…why is one of the most underpowered weapons in the game, ranger shortbow, not on this list?
I’d argue the Mesmer scepter change was more worse then useless since in their minds they have probably ‘fixed’ scepter and will need 3 more years of complaining to get through to them that they didn’t.
Honorable mention to Ranger Axe trait as well, showing they completly missed the point.

Yeah that would be Ranger staff.

Malicious sorcery really isn’t a bad trait. The new 20% increase in casting speed counts towards everything—weapon skills, utilities, etc. It used to work towards rezzing and stomping too, but I’m guessing the new patch nixed that. While the 5% increase (from 15%) is essentially useless, at least it’s ANet acknowledging that scepter did need help. That being said, the new thief buffs to acrobatics includes a huge amount of torment and confusion removal, and the new diamond skin is going to eat condi mesmers alive, so that sucks. But you lost me as to how the druid staff is even remotely underpowered…
It counts towards everything except for the kitten auto attack of the weapon which is entirely dependent on the projectile speed which is slow as kitten.
Ranger staff
No damage or useful effects on skill 1, healing is laughbale.
Skill 2 is the same as skill 1 but with slightly better healing.
Skill 3 is alright but a simple movement skill can’t carry a weapon.
Skill 4 would be the worst skill in the game even if you could hit things with it.
Skill 5 is inferior to reflects, is way to small and is too situational.
Yeah, nothing for Ranger weapon love, even though others got them. Shortbow is still lackluster. I thought maybe Anet would consider adding Confusion when interrupting an enemy with Concussion shot, as it synergizes well with the theme of the weapon (disrupt, skirmish, and conditions).
So many after-casts reduced between 0.35-0.6s (that’s quite hefty) on plenty of already used weapons such as Thief Sword and Warrior Axe, but Ranger Axe retains these after-casts. Then we have Strider’s Defense which went back up to Irenio’s original number of 50% trigger chance from the IMA balance preview stream in Sept. 2015.
I guess that’s fine, but no coding work done on breaking that leap or maybe reducing cast times so the damage is higher and evasions could be accessed sooner, or maybe, I dunno, slap a ¾s evade on Pounce to cover it or even a ¼s evade in the middle of the animation during the high-point of the leap so it has some coverage?
Not to say there wasn’t any good changes and buffs, because there were plenty of those. I guess we’ll have to wait until the end of this season for other things to catch up. Still hope, right?
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
