They separate stats from traits, opening up builds by trait choice rather than stat choice.

Woo! My biggest annoyance with rangers right now is that traits you want are arbitrarily dotted around the trait tree with no rhyme or reason to anything.

Hopefully druids (edit: apparently druids are called “elite specializations”, and aren’t entirely related to the trait reformatting. Whatever, you get the idea) will sort some of this out!

Did you read the Jon Peters MMOgamers interview?

He said that the Specializations are going to be aimed at CC and Support builds. I suspected as much for the Ranger at least and I’m sure I’m not the only one that suspected the Druid will be CC/Support. That being said if the Druid elite Specialization gets rid of or substationally changes the pet (and from the sounds of the interview it will get rid of the pet or change it substantionally) I’ll be rolling two DPS increasing trait lines and the Druid trait line… but… I really can’t say until I see all the traits and which ones will specifically change damage.

From what I read of the blogs and the interview, if you want to go Druid Elite Specialzation you will lose access to another trait line. In the end we will still only have access to 3 trait lines regardless if you chose the specialzation or not. This was not entirely unexpected. So, now it’ll be 6//6/0/6/0 for me once the expansion drops…. might finally be able to put spirits into my power build… or … Just too many unknowns to hardcore speculate right now.

Speaking from a PVE-only point of view…
