Across Board Increase
Across the board changes dont work and it would cause more problems than it would fix.
I mean, you could increase the MH axes damage by 50% and probably noone would notice or care, but LB can already hit 8-9k on AA under perfect situations, and people would be crying all day long is suddenly rangers were one hitting thieves, eles and mesmers from 1500 range with the same 50% damage increase.

this is why i believe they are hesitant to give flat damage bonus increase for not having a pet. Some weapons and skills are working as intended damage wise and it could unbalance the whole thing if we started mauling ppl for 15k

That’s actually already happened. OH axe 4, Path of Scars, had its damage coefficient upped from 0.7 to 1.2. It’s now the highest damage skill available to the ranger with a single button press (it hits twice, for an effective 2.4 coefficient vs Maul’s 1.7).
Nobody cares.
We dont need a damage increase, we need damage moved away from pet and onto the PC where it belongs.

8-9k hit on 1 long bow auto attack?
221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.
Personally don’t feel the class needs an across the board change. The class just lacks certain things that most would consider mandatory for the success of any given class in a PvP game: burst and AE.
The Ranger simply can’t finish a target off, it can’t push a fight in its favor. It can only do moderate sustained damage and attempt to outlast the opponent and their heal in hopes of eventually winning. This is fine for a condition spec, but not so much for organized play and for power builds.
There are 5 things this class needs before it can be considered ‘complete’ and simple changes like number adjustments or trait alignment can fix:
Burst damage.
AE damage.
Condition cleanse.
Group utility.
Functional pets.
This is where ANet needs to focus their attention before they even bother with adjusting numbers or streamlining traits.
I doubt the functional pets even being on their to-do list, it was refreshing , but disappointing, to read Peters admitting the pet are basically broken by design and all they have been doing are band aid fixes.

I use OH axe all the time. #4 with the damage and pull effect is too hard to give up.
