Lvl 80 Classes: Ranger, Warrior, Guardian, Engineer, Thief
(edited by MuchWaffle.2579)
This is a quickness build that uses axes while using your pet as a heavy unavoidable bruiser and meat-shield if need be. You will be using 4 axes, yes four and not because I have a fetish for axes. Read it again, four axes. Why four axes or an axe at all? Axes because the axe yields the highest amount of physical ranged damage besides the longbow. Not to mention the axe has a 1/4th second cast time instead of the 3/4th second cast time lb arrows have, damage isn’t hampered by distance, and requires virtually no micromanagement. As for 2 sets of axes you’ll be needing those to swap between them for 5 seconds of fury every 9 seconds when you swap weapons. You’ll also be bursting your enemy with constant lightning bolts and flame aoes from your sigils. Which you must place your sigils in your 2nd set of axes opposite of the first set’s sigil slots or they wont trigger, it’s just how the sigils work.
Weapon 1 skill: You’ll be using this skill the most, it bounces off 3 targets allowing you hit stealthed targets(I think) in groups. If two targets it hits the first bounces to back to first after hitting the second.
Weapon 2 skill: Ignore this, it’s a condition skill that’s only effective when you’re close to a target which you don’t want. Also has a higher skill cast time and is a waste of your dps.
Weapon 3 skill: Purely situational, use on a running target if 4 is on cd
Weapon 4 skill: A control skill, only use on running targets or if you need to interrupt someone trying to stomp one of your team mates.
Weapon 5 skill: Excellent defensive skill, will ruin any longbow ranger’s day. Melee opponents are punished with retaliation and ranged enemies are devastated by their own attacks while you don’t take a single point of damage. Use when you can’t break out of melee combat, pop quickness for a melee slaughter fest. Even without quickness most melee attackers will step away from your whirling axes. This is one of your major trump cards, use wisely. Note: You will be tempted to use your 4 skill so you can follow it up with your 5 skill, just don’t.
Heal : Use to remove conditions and heal yourself. Combos up nicely with whirling axes.
Utility 1: 6 seconds of Quickness, use this with sic em as it ensures you get the maximum amount of burst out your pet.
Utility 2: 40+Dmg and 40+movement speed, Combined with your pets F2 leap and quickness it hits like an unavoidable train.
Utility 3: Use when severely pressed in melee combat, if at all possible use after a pet swap to give you the maximum amount of hp to soak up damage.
Elite: Use as often as you can, pop this prior to using your utility 2 skill so you get the maximum amount of dps out of your elite and utilities.
Your pet, swap soon as you possible can and pop your pet’s F2 immediately for a hard hitting nearly unavoidable leap that bleeds or chills your foe. Keep in mind felines are not like birds, they stop to attack(instead of sticking with a moving target) and have less than half of a bird’s basic attack range. So the feline’s F2 is a mandatory distance closer, and you need that 30%+ traited speed boost so your pet doesn’t waste dps chasing a target instead of hitting it. IMPORTANT: swapping pets will remove any buff on your pet, so if you pop your elite+utilities then swap….ALL of those buffs go poof on your primary source of dps.
I will upload a video after I get back from work today. Probably late night.

That looks incredibly squishy and has almost no condi removal. Ouch.
Yeah, sorry but I’m going to try to be helpful.
1. Axe’s AA is terrible dmg wise.
2. Axe is a mostly condition weapon.
3. As mentioned above no condi removal and you’re all zerker.
4.If you’re willing to give up the weapon swap axes then go with sword/dagger for evades and take sword off auto attack.(Or take greatsword; block,leap,stun/daze,evade on auto attack, and a hard hitting burst skill.)
Just my 2cents.
1) No it’s not, it does equal damage to the shortbow against one target when the 2 is taken into consideration with 0 condi damage, and if it’s against 2 targets, or you’re in a location (IE near a wall or building) that allows you to get a double hit the axe becomes the strongest weapon in our kitten nal (even outshining the sword).
2) No it’s not, it’s just primarily used for conditions because it’s able to take advantage of them so easily due to being able to apply so many conditions so quickly and with so little effort. I’d say it, like our sword and dagger, and short bow, are more of a hybrid weapon set AKA it can go either way with minimal effort.
3) I agree more, this build will hurt, but i’d hardly call it “Bruiser” i’d call it more “ADC” or “Squishy mid range skirmishy powerhouse”
@OP: Builds like this do work, but you’re going to be EXTREMELY reliant on your allies for survivability in team fights, like to the point where if your team doesn’t babysit you you’ll die and become useless (not a bad thing in an organized team, but not gonna work in solo Que or Hotjoin 99% of the time).
Additionally, i’d drop the second off hand Axe and pick up a warhorn or a dagger to give you at least SOMETHING else, i mean it’s not like the Axe 4 & 5 skills reset on weapon swap, so there’s no advantage for having it on both weapon sets (mainhand axe skills are so stupidly short in CD it doesn’t matter if it’s on both sets), not to mention you don’t even have offhand training so you’re stuck with some fairly lengthy CD’s when it comes to a weapon…. and the Warhorn would give you access to more swiftness and fury + hunter’s call allowing you to be little more lenient with your weapon swaps.

Finally someone who see axe like I see.
At 1v1 axe is out-shined by sword and GW at melee, but in 1v2 axe is our best weapon.
@OP, yes swap 1 of your OH axe for a WH (imo), axe #4 and #5 cooldown aren’t the smallest so while they are in CD you can use another weapon.
Also I suggest making a small change, remove 2 points from BM and add in MM for spotter, the damage you’ll lose from the pet and the Zephir’s Speed you’ll gain from the extra 100 power and 7% crit chance AND you’ll be helping your team with the spotter bonus, those bonuses will be up 100% of the time and more reliable.

Actually, that’d be a DPS loss, quickness is a huge bonus to damage ESPECIALLY now that pets attack right when summoned now.
Additionally, your pet would lose 100 in every stat which not only makes them squishier, but also makes them deal less damage, and you’d only gain 70 power, not 100. BM 5pt trait converts 10% of your healing into damage, so the 300 healing power from BM is converted to 30 power.
So overall it’d be a major downside for you, MAYBE in a 5v5/other scenario where you’ve got 4 allies with you, it’d be a DPS increase, but idk for sure.
This is something that must be shown, rather than explained with text. I lied when I said I’d upload a video tonight, and honestly it was a dumb idea to try to add a long PvP video(to show its not a fluke) with commentary on a work night.
It was a terrible mistake on my part to present a controversial build half-baked without irrefutable evidence of it’s practicality.

As others have said.. looks like you’d be a monster if left alone on the sidelines of a team fight, but if you actually get targeted you’d be a world of trouble. Your only defence really seems to be protect me, which on its own I cant imagine will help much.
Still, I look forward to seeing your video

I really forgot about the healing bonus to power from BM, but a build this squishy needs to be with allies, this build won’t win most 1v1 fights, can’t hold anything so you need to be near your team.

This build with a warhorn in the off hand slot can absolutely win 1v1s, it’ll be very “Do or Die” but that perma weakness, and that chill paired with the perma swiftness and the sheer damage that’ll be pumped out by you is going to carry you a long way.
Remember Weakness kittens over power builds and chill kittens over any build that relies on movement and CDs, not to mention it allows his fully decked out kitty cat to destroy whatever poor kitten he’s up against.
And also keep in mind that spotter might not even be a big DPS increase due to the fact that if he’s paired with builds that are protecting him (and thus probably not having much crit damage) spotter really wouldn’t be as useful.
@Hellspawn Austin: Yeah, SB isn’t really my thing either, which is weird since I like the skills on it, but something just makes me like LB significantly more… And I totally get why you think axe auto is bad lol, in Duels and Roaming (mostly 1v1s) it normally can’t maximize it’s damage due to the lack of bouncing.
All our range weapons have a gimmick, taking advantage of that gimmick gives us the best range damage in the game, SB is flanking, LB is long range, and Axe is bouncing it off walls and other people’s faces.
@ Cufufalating: Protect Me will get you pretty far when timed right and can really turn the tides of battle, however as you said in a team fight where the enemy team absolutely wants you dead it likely won’t do much unless you’re running a bear to hide behind.
