All this hate
Do you really not get why someone called you a noob after you reckt them? Think about it for a second.
Secondly the hate is strong because the new longbow ranger has ruined open world roaming and now you always have to consider LOS because should your evades, escapes, gap closers or reflects and oh kitten buttons be on cool down from a pervious fight say good night because there’s nothing you can do except die from someone almost 1800 range.

The anger this post has caused me… I main thief and a HS (#2) spamming thief is a BAD thief. I run D/P and use my entire skill set. Also, I really hope you weren’t spamming rapid fire. Rangers can do more than that. I have guldies that do more than that. Get your facts straight about thieves before saying something like that.
Sorry for the ragy post – it’s late.
mosty because the established roaming meta does not want to adapt…
lb ranger is extremly easy to counter but they dont want to adapt and instead flame us as “noobs” etc
Commander of Piken.
Ranger for Life.
Probably because it reinforces the ‘noob ranger’ stereotype. Think about it, they just gave bearbows an ‘I win button’ against bad players. I mean, before Ranger = loot bag no matter what. Now even loot bag Rangers can beat you with one button if you are terrible.
So…rage ensues.
I hate fire/air procs from RF more than RF itself.
Actually, I just hate fire/air procs in general. I think with those removed there’d be less hate against a lot of burst in general because it wouldn’t be so random. Evading damage perfectly but taking a random extra 4k damage from fire/air is just annoying. The fact that multi-hit effects like RF can proc both so quickly is a real pain.

Why do people hate on LB ranger??
Why do you care about what some thief corpse is barking at you? Must be a risen. Pull out a torch, kill it with fire. Or rapid fire. Again:>
Haters gonna hate anyway.
5 rangers together can reck many things, although all the broken skills and traits, because in average we have to be better.
So enjoy, and laugh at that thieve that though “weeee free lot bags!!”

Ruined open world roaming?! Lmao.
Ranged is not a cosmetic potion. If you build your char so glassy that you don’t even have a chance to get close to a ranger, then you deserve to die. If you have 0 cd’s because you burnt them earlier and you meet someone with everything available, you are in a dissadvantage anyways. Nothing to do with rangers….
People are just hating because they want rangers to be free lootbags. /thread
….and in my group were 5 ranger in total. We rekt every thief with Rapid Fire… I don’t get.
Really? Need we spell this out for you?
Because said thief was himself, a complete noob.
He could have just used dagger storm and killed all 5 of you…

LB Rangers are a little cheesey there’s really no denying that, and yeah it is actually a lot easier to use than full zerker builds on some other classes, but hey-ho.
It’s not any more or less cheesey than the multiple other cheesey builds out there, and no matter what build you use there will always be someone who complains. If you go regen builds people will blame you for using passive healing to win. I get blamed for being a condition noob when I am on my hybrid trapper, even though I only have 800 condition damage.
There’s really nothing you can do which someone wont have a problem with. As long as a build can be resonably countered by someone who’s resonably prepared then there is no issue.
Gunnar’s Hold
As long as a build can be resonably countered by someone who’s resonably prepared then there is no issue.
I think this is the key here. If someone is full zerker in gear, traits and utility and complain that the died to burst class, LB ranger for example and complain that its op is kidding them self’s, it just like complaining about condis if you have no removal or reduction.
I think that thief’s have a hard time of it because for so long that have only use stealth as a form of survival and that doesn’t necessarily work against a glassbow.
I think that we have all felt the pain for fighting someone health pool gets a bit low and all of a sudden you are downed because a LB ranger rocked up. but thiefs have been doing that form launch
As a ranger using LB (no fire/air sigil), I consider 5 ranger in a group something REALLY lame. No profession can survive a focus fire of 5 ranger. That being said, only if you live long enough to down them all…
But i hate it when i am solo roaming 1vxX and then a ranger come in and crit you for 10k. Usually its ok because i choose my fight, but ranger are good at ending fun/challenging fight.
PS: Im a LB ranger user…
Honestly though, if we took GW2 and removed everything that people considered cheesy, all we would be left with melee characters that dance in and out of each others range trying to kill each other with no ways to be defensive or do damage otherwise.
At that point, we may as well be playing Nidhogg, except not really, because you still get a ranged sword throw that’s a 1 hit kill, which would register on the GW2 communities radar as cheesy.
Cheese should be measured with how forgiving the spec is, and would more appropriately be applied to the PvP celestial metabuilds. LB ranger should more so be defined as a gimmick which is countered easily by dodging and being immediately counter aggressive, or by LoS’ing, or by simply moving out of the LBs effective range at max range, and most players are running such full glass that most competent players can 2 shot the build itself, requiring the ranger player to have to play to a higher standard of skill when they actually attack an opponent that knows how to dodge and immediately close the gap and focus the ranger player.
Also, this game was not balanced around the concept of players 1v1ing, 1vXing, etc.
So in short, knuckledraggers will cry when they get beat by tactics other than facetank everything, and instead of adapting and learning to counterplay, cry and whine and rage because they got beat by somebody who simply had the sense to stay away and do damage.
Is the spec “easy” as some people claim? Totally subjective. I personally have played every class and most every “viable” spec in the game and don’t find and skill rotations/combinations to be difficult to understand or complete, and don’t find the games actions-per-minute requirement to be particularly high or demanding, so I really wouldn’t say that by the technical definition, that any class or spec is “skilled” or “unskilled.”
However, glass ranger is particularly unforgiving against anybody with at least a few functioning synapses and a basic understanding of how to play against another player, and the best thing to do when people are toxic to you in game is laugh it off, block them, or if they are still dead at the scene, hop up and down on their poor, pathetic corpse and remember that you won, and they are rage typing at you with tears in their eyes, taking a videogame much, much too seriously.

Personally i think there’s a lot of hate to both lb rangers and d/d thieves because of the amount of bad rangers that use lb and bad thieves who spam 2 on dagger. In my experience when facing other rangers who use lb for the most part they are running some kind of crappy glass cannon build they don’t know how to use. Just the other day i fought against a lb glass cannon ranger multiple times and during every encounter the ranger didn’t weapon swap a single time. Throughout every fight the ranger tried to use nothing but lb even in close quarters. That is why you get all the hate because when other people face lb rangers they end up facing noobs who run glass builds that wont weapon swap and simply cycle through skills 2 4 5 and 3 over and over.

Bs, they do not ruin anything. Or perhaps you mean they ruin it for invis spamming thiefs, that thought they were invincable. And now it’s the time of rangers to get their revenge.
good night because there’s nothing you can do except die from someone almost 1800 range.
That’s not our fault, because arena net made bad gaming model, where if you gap close, he’s pretty much toasted. Rangers need close fights, better pet mechanics or removal of pets. No druid bullkitten but good reconsidered play style model.
And thiefs need some changes too, as well as cele ele and engie, staff guardian, and rifle warrior.
I run D/P and use my entire skill set.
That’s the problem, you have nice skill set, while ranger:
1. basic damage
2. your beloved rapid fire
3. nothing but stealth with ZERO damage
4. nothing but knock-back with ZERO damage
5. easily avoidable BARRAGE by any non 1 Digit IQ thief. it’s one dodge, or simply walk away.

That’s not our problem if you run full PPF, you play high risk high reward, you give and you take hard damage. Deal with it.

Problem is not the damage, they are extreme squishy if player can get the closer gap fast, the problem comes when theres conditions involved, since aplly condition is far superior to conditions removal, and some builds can get a good stack/effect no matter how many condi cleanses other class have its just a matter of melt target or be melted if fail rotation.
Sidenote: Anet DPS balance comes in making classes able to high damage and fast kill.

Isnt quite like that some classes make a good use of zerker gear at best, the only way to defeat them(or get a equal fight) is fighthing another zerker player, this is what i call the placebo stats effect, since other stats hardly defeat zerker but zerker will make them paper.

Maybe he thought thieves are so OP that should escape from 5 enemies.
It’s funny that people are taking this thread seriously in any way.
I feel even though Ranger is supposed to be far away, there should be a “Prime Range” where he does maximum damage and it should lessen the further away he gets!
So maximum range does the least damage, this would force Rangers to engage rather than what we have now!

Why should rangers be forced to engage? Why can’t you engage them? It’s literally the same concept, except as you get closer, they get less effective AND they take more damage.

The arrogance is strong in this one…
ZERO damage? Seriously? You call around 1-3k (depending on target) zero damage? And yes, you can even do that kind of damage with your autoattacks. And the problem with barrage isn’t what you’d think. The problem for a Backstab-Thief is more that Barrage denies yet another Backstab (and LB S/D Rangers already have many ways to do so), plus it kinda hurts them when they Shadow Refuge. But yeah, that’s working as intended imo.
Now, about the hate. Well, who doesn’t hate it if you’re fighting someone and suddenly you get bursted down from far away. Also, I’ve had it happen once when I was standing right in front of a tower, that within a matter of 1-2 seconds, I went from 17k HP down to 3k HP +20 stacks of vulnerability on me… from a single Ranger. That was while having 2,6k armor myself btw. I mean, at least Thieves have to get close and behind me if they want to achieve something similar (usually they do less damage in the same timeframe, though; and also you don’t get all that vulnerability). Rangers can do it from 1500 range. Don’t get me wrong… I know how to fight LB-Rangers. I’ve killed quite a few of them, and it makes me grin every time. BUT sometimes I just go wtf, because you’re dead or almost-dead before you know it. I guess those must be the more skilled ones… or maybe just those that use PvE-builds and would die if you would actually manage to retaliate. Don’t worry… I’m not asking for nerfs or anything. Because while it baffles me that some Rangers are like Thieves on steroids, it just means that it’s even more fun to kill them. Looking forward to practicing more.

OP, your story reminded me the days where everyone said warrior press 2 to win.
Get over it, they are the crybaby that need L2P.
