- Zannito [SE]’s Green Ranger

My Build is 30/0/20/20/0
I use the LongBow/Greatsword For WvW and PvE
The Shortbow/Greatsword For Spvp and Dungeons.
I never change my build since I think the best build is a build that fits your play style and not a play style for your build.
I use Entangle,Grasping Vines,Quickening Zephyr,and Lightning Reflexes.
I change them when it’s needed.
I’ve done fine so far….
Any Advice?
What is your armor/pets/strategy? Seems interesting, is is a immobilize then burst type deal?
This is a question about technique not builds.
I’m not 80 Yet. So Would My Gear still need to be known?
I use a Sylvari Hound for Regen on Passive.
Then I use a Brown Bear For the big battles and most of any other aspect of the game.
I have opening strikes on me and my pet so Once I get into range I will Tag someone with grasping vines. Pop Quickness and use barrage on someone while this is happening he would have 10 stacks of Vulnerabilty (I prefer calling it weakness) because of quickness I can hit with my Weakness Arrow before the stacks end making it go to 20 stacks for a few more seconds. Then I use the Multi Shot. That’s ofcourse Speaking if my strategy went through smoothly. If not I will just dance with them till I use Entangle. Rinse and Repeat
My only advice is to check out 1h sword and also warhorn.
since u have 2 immobilizers,i suggest using axe/torch and changing one of ur pet with spider that can stun using the f2 (actually it will be immobile instead of stun, typo error on tooltip). Once immobilised, use the bonfire and then splitblade at point blank range, the 5 blades wil bleed n add extra burn combo. ur pet can immobilise on command and he can immobilise again using his skill but u can;t control that. so u have total 4 immobilise to play with

And I asked him what his strategy, armor, and pets were, only to get an idea of what he was aiming for, or what his playstyle was. I couldn’t give much suggestion on the information he gave. It seemed like he wanted to display his build from is original post.
But yes, I agree with verdelet. It seems you like immobilize, the cave spider or krytan drakehound might be a good fit for you. It seems like a solid strategy, and you say you are doing fine with it so that is good. The longbow would benefit from that. On the other hand, with that much immobilize, you could slot a cat which could get off some pretty good burst on a still target. The choice is yours, more damage or more cc. It seems like you have a balance of damage, survivability, and utility though, I like it.
I feel unless you run a bunch of signets 20 in marksmanship is enough, and i really like furious grip(15 skirmish) otherwise seems like you are on the right track, happy hunting!

I’ve asked around and people say this is a much better choice then great sword apparently. But it seems that’s more for an offensive play style and I love the Gs for the block and quick stun on #5.
I still need to find those pets you guys are talking about and I will. I have been doing pretty fine. It really means a lot that I’m actually doing fine (from what y’all say) on my ranger. I tried every class but the ranger just felt comfortable for me.

alternatively you can use canine

for immobilisers
Don’t change profession just to win, change the build instead haf fun with ur ranger
Still enjoying my Ranger and now I have all P/V/T Gear from WvW and Going P/Prec/T gear with berserker jewels. That accessories might change to due me planning to buy the Runes of Eagle to up my Prec more. Might slip it more toughness if my Crit chance hits 50%
