I’m aiming to get into the dungeons and Fractals

Armour wise I’ve almost made a full Berserker kit so all my stats aim towards power, precision and ferocity. I’m thinking of putting the ranger rune in them but haven’t yet.

I use a long bow and an axe/horn. What sigils would be pref for them?
My skills are maxed marks and Skirm with leftovers in nature.

Pets wise I’m using a bear(shake it off helps me farm) and jungle stalker

First and foremost, don’t limit yourself to any particular build or weapons.

If you want to run a berserker set, yes, Ranger runes are a great match. But, as I said above, don’t limit your weapons or build. If your going for a power/precision build, you could do several things: a longbow ‘sniper’ build focusing on bow traits in marksmanship and skirmishing, a great sword focused build focused on beast master signets and survivability, or something like sword/warhorn axe/dagger using power and spirits.

TL;DR If you go berserker fine, but make several weapons and try different builds. Explore the possibilities. There is more to Ranger than berserker sets.

If you want to run dungeons with friends you can probably take whatever you want aslong as its somewhat built for damage.
This game suffers from a lot of “elitists” though, which will bash on you if you dont run a certain build.

That being said one of the best reasons to have ranger around in a dungeon party was his frost spirit which ulitmately got ninja nerfed and has a 10 seconds cooldown on its effects now. This spirit, pre-nerf, would give the entire party around 7% extra damage. Now its probably around 1 or 2% so its not worth it anymore.

The Longbow is not a good weapon for all those close quarter dungeons since you will most likely never be able to hit at full range for its full damage. Swapping it for a greatsword is probably the better option. Melee zerker ranger is dangerous though, you need to be able to dodge well.

Now, I would’nt kick you for using a longbow aslong as you dont push those mobs around all the time. There are people who do that, so be prepared and dont loose your spirits!

tl:dr – For dungeons there are certainly better options than a ranger, but if its the class you enjoy then stick to it. All this meta game needs to come to an end anyway!

Edit: UnitedChaos said something very valuable. Dont limit yourself. He is certainly right. Explore your class and do what you think is best for you.

If your goal is Dungeons/Fractals you’re doing pretty good so far. The above poster is right and you shouldn’t limit your weapon selection for WvW/PvP or open world PvE, I would argue that you really do need to focus on Sword+WH or Greatsword for fractals/dungeons though.

These 2 weapons do competative damage and are the highest DPS weapons available to the class. Longbow is a very distant third.

Everything else you’ve done seems pretty spot on though.

Yea I’m looking to switch the axe definitely and maybe the bow their leftover from back when I was playing a year ago before my big break. I was going berserker because I heard the damage it does is good in dungeons. Also I’m open to ideas for when I make my ascended gear.

Unfortunately as more people learn about what happened to frost spirit, I suspect rangers will be more and more ostracized from all PUGs. We’ll see.
