Am I still going to like Ranger?
hate to break it to you but picking professions is not as hard and permanent as picking a career or a university. if you are bored of rangers or if you do not like their mechanics after a period of time, then play a different profession. there is literally nothing to lose except for time and a character slot. (and sold gold for armor and all that stuff)
I played ranger from day one… Loved it for awhile then listened to these boards and abandoned it due to all the doom and gloom.. Tried every other class, needed an extra slot so I deleted my level 58 ranger… Quit the game for awhile came back and tried the other classes but I felt like I needed my ranger… so i re-rolled him two weeks ago and absolutely loved it… My only complaint is that if I kept the original alive he woulda had his birthday and I wouldn’t be stuck at level 18, I might be 80 by now…. Love the ranger despite the hate… My advice is ignore the forums, they just make you second guess yourself when you shouldn’t…

The forums have -some- good points but by and large make a mountain out of a mile hill (EX: spirits change).
OP: if you liked your ranger before you’ll like him now, the way you built was left relatively unchanged, however keep in mind the meta has adapted to be very condition heavy, so make sure you plan around that!!

Even if the spirit change was justified in sPvP…. the lack of a split was not.
It’s one more straw on a massive pile of straw that didn’t need to be loaded on this camel

But out of PvP it was a buff… Flat out buff, the CD is shorter and face it, in real fights in WvW they weren’t up 100%, you’d be lucky to keep them up for 50%.
And in PvE they’re still amazing, you just gotta use them a little bit more intelligently instead of just relying on them like an AoE passive signet..

I’m puzzled as to why you’d even make this thread. If YOU want to know if YOU will still enjoy a class then YOU get on and play it. Why ask us at all? All you’re going to get is our personal opinions on the class which vary from love it to hate it. In this case the very subjective enjoyment factor means that all of our feedback is utterly irrelevant for you.
The only real answer anyone can give this thread is, I don’t know. You tell us?

I don’t know about WvW but I know how to put them intelligently in PVE, and this “buff” is actually a nerf for me, because placing them intelligently could give you a 100% uptime. Now I have to wait 25s after full 60s duration to place another one, and even if fight is over I have t wait for them to die AND 25s to place them again. Can’t move banner like a warrior without this 30 points in Nature Magic or even gather them as engineer with his turrets.
Don’t tell me that it is good for new players. Every good game is about skill, we are not playing farmville.

Why the kitten would i say it’s good for new players? My motto is “To hell with the new players!” they shouldn’t be considered too heavily in balance imo.
And as for the 30pts in NM, yeah, that kinda follows how ALL ranger utility goes… without ~30 traits buffing it, it’s fairly sub par… Trabs, Signets, Shouts, Spirits all follow this, that’s why i’m now using Survival utilities because i got tired of spending kittening 30 points just to boost my utilities to slightly above average..
