Anet if now the druid heal is 'balanced'
We should get an entirely new elite spec, nobody asked for this poorly designed wow player bait bullkitten.

A lot of people asked for a support ranger that utilizes a staff, it was actually one of THE most asked for things on the forums, and then it happened, so try again.
Either way, everyone’s going to be getting new elite specs in the future, that’s why there’s the special “elite spec” slot in the trait tab.
@OP: well short now and WH just got some REALLY nice buffs, and from anet said last balance patch they plan on buffing base pets more as well, so we should be in pretty good shape in no time…. and by no time I mean like 20 years.

We will likely be getting an elite spec that is dps-oriented next expansion.

Things that happened in your head didn’t actually happen in real life, you know that right?
What ranger needs is to finally be separated from our pet, so that we can get our damage balanced up there with the other classes.
Until that happens, anything else done is a useless gesture.
I also stand by my original assessment of the Druid specialisation – we’ve been trolled by Anet.

Just because you’re ignorant doesn’t mean you’re right buddy.

You honestly want us to believe that people asked for a healer to be added to this game when no mode needed or was designed for one till they needed wow kids to buy their expansion? That Rangers wanted a spec designed entirely for a new mode that they didn’t even know existed? You expects us to believe that Rangers were clamoring for a single target ranged weapon when they already had two? That the only use for this weapon is one very good movement skill and its ability to generate a resource? That all our new skills have a gimmick that turn them all into aoe heals when entering a mode that is already 5 aoe heals? That the only reason anybody picks the spec is for a damage buff trait that was slapped on when they realized that nobody was going to take their healing spec anyway because other classes still did it better? That the new mechanics neither replaces nor interacts with the pet and looks like it was just slapped on because they couldn’t think of anything else to add?
Are you going to pretend there wasn’t a massive backlash when druid was revealed? That they didn’t send Gaile to try and clam us down, which is Anets standard ‘oh kitten the communities kittened send the one they like to talk to them’ response? That the reveal went down so badly that they had to promise to finally fix shouts so that Rangers had something new to use?

I apologize. And this wasn’t even to me. Here I was thinking this is going to be bad, but by the time I got to the end I was saying to self, hmm…you know what, this is pretty spot on.
If you don’t mind, let me remind everyone how dire it was to support your comment. Druids got one “open” beta. Just one, and it was the last before failure to launch.

Hárvey Wallbanger – Alt Warrior (Ehmry Bay)
Just for the record, data mines do support the theory that the druid’s initial desighn was much more ambitious and included 3-4 “attunements like” mods. I think CA is probably one of the attunements, that got massivly overdeveloped. It was the case with several other elite specializations, we know that breserkers were supposed to get “sacrificial like” like skills, and the specialization was about managing your hp, wich is perfect thematically.

I want to disagree with this but I can’t. This is honestly one of the first really well reasoned and intelligent rants I’ve heard about druid. To be fair, we were asking for a good support build, and while druid does crank out heals, it doesn’t do much else (boon support missing, some stuns I think, and the GotL trait if you aren’t doing condi with Ancient Seeds). I’m definitely curious to see where they go with the next one, and hopefully at some point we’ll either get a good support spec or (fingers crossed) they are looking at a rewrite long term of druid to be more what we asked for in the first place. The line “After a period of observation, the balance team will be changing the druid specialization’s nature somewhat.” gives some hope that the druid spec will be improved.

Can you link me to the devs talking about buffing pets more? I must’ve missed it
After many years, ranger pets have learned how to remember their own names, and you’ll no longer be required to rename a pet when you switch them out! In addition to some baseline improvements, our goal has been to improve base pet abilities during this update. With that said, there are definitely more pet changes that we’re looking forward to implementing in the future.

Yeah at this pace, maybe in 20 years…

I’m not holding out hope for sweeping pet changes outside of an elite spec, personally. however, if they ARE looking into this, it’d be a good opportunity to do a beast mastery focused elite spec (sort of how Druid is a nature magic focused one).
I’ve been around since about two months after launch, and a real beast mastery setup is all I’ve wanted out of ranger since the beginning. And hopefully they don’t foist the ranger off on someone again.

I agree with the majority of this post but sadly, must contradict the conclusion. It seems to me (especially looking over the Engi and Necro notes for this balance patch as well Anets general approach to balance and class changes)that “will be changing the druid” line was actually referring to this patch specifically. As in ’that’s your lot’.
I’d like to be wrong but Anet has pretty much completed and repeated every single mistake that players feared would happen, since the before class announcements for HoT.
