Animation Change on Longbow LRS
Leave it alone. Last time ArenaNet did an animation fix they nerfed the DPS of the best ranger weapon. Leave it alone.
I wish I could, but the only pleasure I get out of this game anymore is looking awesome. I already have to put up with the fact that every time I throw an axe, my backpiece and horn disappear. These animation bugs/changes need to stop. I just tested this on a warrior using a longbow (dual shot has the same exact aftercast as LRS does now) and is completely unaffected. It looks just like it should, reaching back to grab another arrow, not magically conjuring one mid draw.

This.
I’d love to have it fixed, but I’ll take functionality over aspect any day, and this kind of “animation fixes” seem to break more than fix…
I immediately noticed this and it drives me mad, especially because the animation has the hand idle in front of the chest after loosing an arrow when it could clearly be reaching for another in the quiver. FIX IT PLEASE!!! Not that they will…

Exactly. There is PLENTY of time for the character to reach back and grab another. I am not even sure how it was affected in the first place as the warriors autocast remains the exact same.

Can I ask what weapon this was btw where the animation fix, nerfed the DPS?

He was talking about the Short Bow animation change that came with the October 7th 2012 update.
Crossfire: Increased casting time by 40 milliseconds. This was done to fix some glitches in the animation that caused problems with this skill.
The funny thing is; the actual increase ingame seemed more like an increase of 80 milliseconds. (This was tested by recording the auto attack and comparing attacks/minute before and after the patch.) Before that I can recollect no actual posts or signs that there was anything wrong with the animation. I think I might have read somewhere that it had something to do with the Quickness animation. Which makes things even more hilarious because in a later patch Quickness got toned down by 50%.
Either way, it’s updates like this that have made a lot of Rangers on the forums very cautious to post at all.
I personally quit using the Short Bow. At the time I was pretty fed up with the way this apparently unnoticed glitch was dealt with. And now the June 25th patch was just icing on the cake. To me the Short Bow now only feels like a shadow of its’ former self. A shame, really. Because it was pretty balanced at release.

It’s semi bugged. The toon still reaches for the quiver if you only do a single shot.
However if you makitten to take advantage of the lower after cast, then it doesn’t reach back at all.

Funny, I was thinking the exact same thing

I quit reporting bugs for the same reason. Every bug I found which helped my ranger got fixed so it no longer did. Every bug I found which hurt my ranger got fixed by updating the tooltip to say it was now the correct behavior.
