Let me start by saying I love my ranger to death. I love its skills, its utilities, its look, even the pets I kinda like even though I think we should have a no pet option.

But I would also like something new after so many months playing Ranger. Was hoping the changes in HoT would rekindle my joy for the class. Instead we get a staff which, imo, is a clunky weapon to use and, while effective, isn’t really fun. And we get glyphs, which ranks up with mantras as the worst skill type in game.

I really dont know what anet was thinking with Druid. But for me its garbage and simply doesn’t fit ranger. Glyphs are slow and clunky, and when I think ranger I don’t think “heal bot”. But apparently a-net does, so I’m now looking for another class to main.

I’ll wait for raids to make a final decision.

I really like the Ranger but it’s clear the base class is a lost cause and raids might be what finally forces their hand and makes them revert the Druid nerfs. If not, and we end up getting left out of the meta again, then I guess there’s a lot more games out there to try.

But i am disappointed with how the druid is working. its not fitting with the ranger very well.

Celestial form has a pathetically short duration.

I switched to revenant. Figure if I am going to start from square one with a class may as well be that one. I am so tired of ANET and the ranger treatment.

not touching druid with a barge pole now , i got to minor grandmaster on the traits " didn’t put a staff on" but used healing from different sources like Invigorating Bond And guess what

" it does not trigger Natural Mender!" or charge AF .

it seems only a staff Equipped allows you to charge AF .

tried Troll ungent without a staff Equipped and it didnt do a thing.

also Water spirit did not Trigger Natural mender ether when it was Activated.

but in all this atleast the new Tiger pet has allowed me to improve A remoresless build.

And I’m about to look for another game to play now or just having a break, cause basically I play archers in every MMO and I like that kind of agile light-armoured ranger bowman game style and design (like many other players and fantasy junkies do, I wager); but now it feels completely ruined and unviable from my point of view, and Dragonhunter sadly isn’t an option here. So yeah, I, for one, think I can understand what you’re feeling, if understanding was the purpose of your topic

Nope. It’s my main for PvE and has all the good stuff on it.

Two days isn’t going to make me quit my favorite class for PvE, stop being so dramatic

Celestial Duration is too short, yes. I also feel there should be more of a toughness or protection buff for the ranger in Celestial, feels like a glass healer unless you armor up for it fully and if you armor up for it fully then you’re not going to do much in damage during the fights that you don’t need the heals for. BUT – you can change armor and build on the fly in-game so you can prep for each encounter in an organized run in theory.

I also used to monk alot in GW1 so it’s hybrid of the two for me. Still too early to determine full effectiveness though.

If they leave astral form ( 15 sec and dissipates ooc) like this I dont see myself sticking with it.

In the same boat as you op. Luckily, sd scrapper is a kitten load of fun. Hopefully, a-net fixes this disaster of a class… it’s not like we’ve been waiting for years or anything.

With that being said, my zerker ranger was doing very well with new pets… but it’s too little compared to all the new toys every other class has.

The smoke-scale swap change was the nail in the coffin.

I am really torn.

I seriously love the traits for 1v1 and WvW organised play, and I really like how the staff plays, but I seriously dislike the way that CA works right now.

- I rarely get to use it unless I channel staff #1 through my team/pet. AF generation is way too slow. It has a CD now, so it shouldn’t matter if you generate it faster in group content, as long as it’s usable in small scale, which it isn’t currently. Way too many gates.
-CA Skill #1 is completely worthless for reasons that people have mentioned a million times over.
- Losing AF within seconds of leaving CA is absolutely brutal and seems unnecessary,
- The Smokescale is now pointless unless you use WHaO (for might stacking). Moving the smoke field off the F2 was a huge mistake.

If these things are addressed then I will be completely happy with the Druid. If they aren’t, however, I will probably quit the game. BWE3 (despite its imperfections) gave me so much hope, and renewed my GW2 vigor. The last few days have been very disappointing, even more so given the complete lack of communication.

I’m sure everyone at ANET is working incredibly hard, but this is not being handled well. For now, I will keep reminding myself that it has only been 3 days since release. I just REALLY hope that the Dev in charge of re-tuning the Druid/Ranger seriously considers the feedback (mostly just criticism, let’s be honest), and understands that these posts come from a place of passion and love for the class, and should be taken seriously.

We saw 2 Rangers in ESL today, buffing them for raids would make them unstoppable in PvP we know they balance in PvP, so PvE Druid would take the knock.

Well, Druid is really bad at pvp right now but on the pve and wvw side it is pretty good actually. So nope I won’t quit. The only complain I’ve is the ooc astral force problem and even that doesn’t matter on wvw and pve. The only problem I see is pvp.

I’m simply just not playing it.
… because it’s that bad.

It kind of does the trick in Stronghold but lacks a lot of stuff at lot of places.
Cannot be used in PvE whatsoever.

I won’t quit my ranger, BUT it won’t be my main anymore, I’ll unlock Druid and once a week during Raids if my party has no healer I’ll log, otherwise I’ll play as my Reaper or Herald.

My druid is shelved. Running revenant right now. I just had it out in WvW zerging around EB. Rev hammer is better than ranger LB IMO for WvW (two low cooldown blasts and hits five targets.. and hits hard)

Watching ESL Guardian looked pretty cool.

After the craptastic state of Druid I quit it for now.

I’m still playing my Ranger for the story while I work on my Rev at the moment.
But I’ll probably be switching to Rev for most things until they fix Druid/etc.

i actually created a ranger just because of HoT

i think druid is fun as hell. i actually feel like i dont wanna play anything else right now and everyone i was grouping up with so far loved my druid. But if i have other druids with me in groups i also feel like a lot of druid just play the spec wrong or unefficient

Quit it well before HoT.

I only bang my head against brick walls for so long.

By “quit” I mean stopped doing anything, even vaguely, serious on it.

I still wander around on it, from time to time, in open world.

…and in fact, more so now, as I’m trying to find pets.

Once I’ve found them, that will probably be more or less it, though.

No. I havent quit my ranger, because my Ranger isn’t any worse than it was last week. If anything, we are moderately better because of the buffs to spirits in PvE.

But so far, there is zero reason to take druid for any spec at all. It worse for support, worse for power, worse for condi, bad for roaming, not really an improvement for zerging, and can’t bunker in pvp. It doesnt provide any benefit at all except maybe raids so no real reason to use it.

I am pretty upset though. Really sucks to go from the bottom of the pile to… the bottom of the pile. And all of these problems couldve been avoided if we were afforded the same BWE time as others.

Nope. I love my Ranger, but then I’ve always gone non-meta on her. She’s a condi machine and while she lacks the burst of other classes, has no problems taking down the enemies and surviving.
With my spec and build, she lays on the conditions and the durations. Takes some patience, and you have to avoid the avoidable damage, but that’s funner to me than roflstomping stuff.
But that’s my RANGER. I won’t play a Druid. A Druid, at least Anet’s idea of a Druid, does not hold with my idea of the heart of a Ranger.

Considering just deleting my main 2k hour ranger, will make me stop thinking of playing a class that is hated by devs

As a Ranger, there is no reason for me to spec into Druid. I just can’t generate AF fast enough for me to go in Celestial Avatar. Unless I camp in staff, but this is a problem, I am restricted to this one weapon that isn’t good for either condi or power builds. So I am locked into this supportive role with minimal damage output, which means I can’t solo, or I can but it takes a looooong time.

This creates a “separation”. It is either you are a Druid or a Ranger, never both. They are just vastly different in terms of roles and viability in different game modes.

TL;DR – Ranger and Druid are like two separate classes locked to their respective weapon sets.

I like my melee zerker ranger, but reaper also scratches that itch…and does a more satisfying job of it.

Still, my ranger handles HoT content much better than my reaper (possibly a combination of reaper having no real ranged presence combined with the fact that I haven’t fully unlocked its traits/skills)

I don’t want to retire my ranger….but lets just say I’ll be playing my reaper a lot more in the coming months.

I have 3 and I’ve quit mine for now. The changes they have made and continute to make are a huge disappointment.

I’ve been reading patch notes, they have showed favorable attention to Warriors, Guards, Eles (omg what a surprise) and Engis (actually a surprise) and the only thing they have done for rangers is F3k!ng up a pet? Really?

ANET, Hi there, I think you are inept, understaffed and show blatant bias for other classes.

Ranger was my only love, so, instead, it’s more along the lines of “quit the game” for me.

I don’t have HoT…so no.

I was hoping to use my ranger/druid to complete basically everything HoT related but I’m so reluctant right now considering I hate what they’ve been turned into since the beta. Now I’m just waiting hoping for that non-existent dev post/patch that will tell me something half decent about the druid.

Stuck in PvP trying things out for now.

This isn’t how I wanted to spend my HoT release.

Ranger was the last class I really, truly enjoyed prior to HoT, so for the present moment I’ve already uninstalled.

Still lurking on the forums (MMO addiction, yo) waiting for a promising dev post, but it’s been three years already, so not holding my breath.

My expectations for druid in non-raid PvE were not high to begin with, but even then I wasn’t prepared for what was dumped upon us on launch day and the days that followed.

Yes – I grinded tomes just to boost mine to 80, which I did. Now I regret it and am leveling a Rev. Ventari/Glint have been really fun for healing!

No. No matter what game, I always play ranged, so magic or bow type classes are my automatic go-to class. I tried Elementalist and really didn’t like it. My ranger is the only toon I’ve managed to stick with to almost full map completion, and I’m not going to give her up.

I just won’t pick Druid for spec. I would consider it if we had the ability to swap between more than two weapon sets on the fly – LB, S/A, Staff, for example – and a fourth spec slot because Druid feels very situational for me/my gameplay style. As it stands, swapping out my sword/axe for staff just isn’t worth it for me.

I picked ranger so i could play as ranged dps. Im not the best player and i dont like any groups i am part of having to rely heavily on me, aside from damage support. Ive put 1000 hours into my ranger over the last 2 years, and now feel that the direction of the class has been forced down a path i never wanted when i picked it in the first place.

The main selling point of GW2 for me was “no Holy Trinity” and now the class I enjoy has been shoehorned into a role i dislike having, with a major lack of viable alternatives to use my elite spec if i dont want to be a healer.

I had an immense amount of fun playing ranger, and am dismayed at the design decisions which, for me, have ruined my class or at least made me have to use the same weapons/skills that i got eventually bored of before HoT. Not sure which class to try next but yes, for me its R.I.P ranger.

I was SO LOOKING FORWARD to playing Druid live. Druid in BW3 was good and we were all hopeful that fine tuning here and there would make it even better. We were disappointed.

I am now playing a Chrono waiting may be some good changes will come to Druid soon…

loving my druid. playing 3 effective builds in pvp now…just got into a bit of pve as well, looks fun.

I’m only really disappointed about wvw. was hoping to see a resurgence of old players, but it’s a dead game mode.

It does look cool and I was really surprised about one of the abilities that chunked down someone in ESL. (apologies for not know the exact name) True shot?

I guess that’s what something akin to Aimed Shot on WoW’s hunter would be like here. At 100% of your characters power (not divided between you and your pet like Ranger) makes for an impressive ability.
