Silly Rangers. Tomorrow’s Mischief Night. In spirit of the holidays, A-Net is going to fix some more animation bugs!

@OP – don’t get too excited. This is what I did last patch as I expected them to fix some ranger issues surely, and we were 100% overlooked.

I know they said they were going to be in the next patch, but based on history I would advise you to not get your hopes up.

Patch comes usually in the night of monday → tuesday (Central European time)

Honestly i don’t expect any patch until halloween event is over.

ROFLMA are you SURE it is patch day tomorrow? I mean the week before the Halloween patch they skipped it. I am not holding my breath we will not get buffed for at least 1-2 weeks longer.

They are focusing in the Halloween event, maybe next week we can get some attention.

Who says it’s a buff by the way?
If they say they’re doing some tweeks, it could also be 5% more health for spirits.

Regardless Guardians and Mesmers will STILL be top dog in a areas even if we get buffed

actually they have different teams for holiday events and balance/bug fixes, so we could expect them to keep on track with their current schedule. if they do have big changes in mind to change the ranger, don’t expect it all to be in one patch. it is easier to catch bugs by patching in small increments.

I’m excited as a GS ranger, my weapon can’t really go downhill.

SB rangers think they’ve got it bad, little do they know, the only reason they are SB rangers is because SB is the flavor of the month. Seen lots of SB QQ and there’s probably going to be more when SB doesn’t get buffed in the next patch.

um the reason I use short bow is because it has a snare, has nothing to do with damage.. people just love running away so you have to have something to stop them..

Shortbow is for chasing, long bow is for pushing ppl away.

SB isn’t flavor of the month. Nothing about ranger is flavor of the month. Thieves and mesmers are the flavor of the month. SB is just the best weap we have out of several lackluster options.

No im not.I dont expect anything till christmas or whatever.It was a very clever idea of opening the paid tournaments and replied that some Ranger skills are lackluster.I mean that made a lot of Rangers jump massively in the Paid tournaments and spending a lot of money in tickets…Even if Rangers had a chance now they are not

Compare the average price of a rare (gold) shortbow vs that of a rare (gold) knife. I was amazed that I could sell a simple rare (gold) knife on the TP for 49 silver. Versus the normal 14-16 silver of any given rare shortbow.

That’ll tell you plenty about what class is the FotM.

Actually they stated already in another thread that Nov 15 will be a big content update patch, so if its not addressed this week perhaps then? Still sooner would be better, please buff ranger! Rangers need love too

I think that its not fair to be so much delayed.
I know that the previous patch didnt solve every prof bugs and issues but they made a step further.
The rangers stay in the same place and the paid tournaments have started.
Its not that rangers are broken or something but you must be fair with all prof
And i think that Anet hadnt handle it good with Rangers.
So much fog in the air.With other prof is more clear,they get buffs,they get nerfs every patch they have some pretty list of changes
We rangers see a little every patch..We get a stealth nerf and after this you would expect Anet state that “Rangers are ok , thats why we dont do much”.Instead Anet states that we true need some major chances-improvements

I think it was mainly due to the public outbursts in regards to the last animation fix….or so thats what was stated, people started to speculate that the fix was a means to combat botting since the SB was the rangers bots weapon of choice, so in a way I am excited to see what changes happen for the Ranger class, if they completely fix the pet system that would be more than enough for me, anything else after that is just icing on the cake.

Been playing a Ranger since BETA and everyone in my guild agrees that this class is underpowered. This is particularly apparent in PvP compared to other classes. I would love to see something along the lines of:

1. Increasing Long Bow range. Even if it’s by 10 or 20 feet. It’ s a “long bow”.
2. Increase trap damage. Most of them are total jokes in terms of damage when most opposing players have 15k+ health.
3. Why are we the slowest class in the game? Ele’s have swiftness (air) and vapor as escape skills. Thieves can go stealth and have quick movement. Mesmers have everything. Rangers are too slow.

I could go on and on but I hate complaining.

IN answer to the OP’s question: I’m honestly finding it harder each day to be excited about this game. It’s kind of a bummer too because I was really looking forward to it, enjoyed beta testing it, etc. I’m becoming skeptical so I’ll wait and see what the patch brings.

Im still excited about this game, there are so many aspects Ive yet to do like WvW, endgame dungeons ect… I look forward to decking my toon out in the nicest skins and weapons and just focusing on WvW. Waiting for ranger buffs before I do that.

to the OP, can you specify how you know patch is today? Or is it a guess? Its usually monday but nothing happened so Im kinda expecting it next week or after the halloween event. Id love some feedback from anet explaining when it is.

I don’t think there will be any major changes maybe a few little buffs at a time. Spread over a few patches and I don’t think we’ll say any to short bow. Like to see more traits geared to the player instead of his pet which right now has way to many wasted on them ..

I would just like to remind everyone that played GW that the Ranger in GW also usually got the short end of the stick when it came to updates. This is a recurring phenomenon and it can be expected to continue. No, I don’t think we will be getting that update for a while yet but I don’t see ANet hold things back due to a “risk factor” very often either so hopefully it’s something game altering. But i doubt it.

Never ever hoped that ranger can be buffed. Even if they do, it won’t give any significant result, simply becoz ranger is already very good for pve (so pvp underpower = balanced over all). Yes thief, mesmer are good in pvp, but look at pve, they have much harder time than ranger.
There is no MMO ever can make classes balanced in pvp coz it’s impossible. But you can make PVP+PVE balanced, that’s the way Anet chose.
Again, ranger is not designed for pvp, so don’t fool yourself again and again.

I have a mailbox full of infractions just on talking about the ranger class bad points, on how Anet is extremely slow with any updated to rangers and requesting for feedback on why nothing is being done or for a specific date for patch release.

No, the reason people have problems in pve as a mesmer and thief is because they are bad, plain and simple. I lvled a thief so I know from his experience that double dags makes pve easy, so does double pistols, sword/pistol, ect… I was able to solo stuff simply be going in and out of stealth. Dancing daggers murders 2+ mobs hard. I only speak from pvp experience with mesmers but they seem strong enough to hold their own, especially with sword/pistol.

Same lol. But I believe they will fix us like they promised. Until then there is the engineer.

I also thought that update was ranger patch haha mostly because it was taking awhile at first but I think it will either come after halloween event or next week.

Most likely, its been a long time coming. Since the last BWE, it popped up but never got fixed. Im sure they will get it this next patch.

LOL so hard at this.. yes rangers need a bit of love but this post is so far from the truth i feel a troll climbing out my kitten and dancing on the keyboard..

mesmer : takes certain amount of skill to master, if played poorly you will know about it..

Thief: the good ones deserve credit, the “look at me mom i can spam #2” ones are just people QQ because they cant beat a thief

warrior: again a skilled player can be good, similar to mesmer but the “Savage leap > Flurry > 100B” nab is predictable and easy to beat

Guardian: Same as warrior..

Necro: Annoying at the best of times but left alone can devastate an unsuspecting group

Ranger: Find the right comfort build, playstyle can cripple a team..

I say all this and im a ranger, my statement is purely factored from PvP.. and this is what i feel… Any class can be great when played well, doesn’t mean that class is OP’ed..

Yes rangers lack a lot that other do better, they are FAR from unplayable and unusable..

I say this without offending people but if you moan and cry that ranger is useless and cant do well anywhere then you are just playing it wrong.. If you want a easy faceroll character the try a HS spam thief they seem to be the usual route..

If you want to stick by your ranger and try harder then may i suggest the trait most overlooked and not understood.. BM is still very much useful and working well..

Yes the pets can be dumb but control them, choose the right combination of pets and they shine..

Yes ive played every class, learned their weak points and their strengths what they can and can’t do, that gives me the advantage.. Anticipation is your strongest weapon..

Id like to add 1v1 i rarely loose unless the opponent is exceptional, thats just how powerful BM can be if built right..

On a sidenote in PVE the whole game is pretty much easy with any class..
