Argument for More Control Over Pets
It has been stated before that ANet has no intention of giving rangers greater control over their pet in the forseeable future on the grounds of adding too much complexity to the class.
In argument against that however, players on both sides, rangers and non-rangers alike disagree and want to have more control.
Rangers want more control over their pets in the form of dedicated dodges, combat log, detailed status bar, and skill control.
Non-rangers almost constanly complain that rangers are a skill-less class. First their was the “fire-and-forget” BM Pet, followed by the Spirit Spamming.
Does anyone else agree with this? I think(more like hope) that if we get a large enough community consensus, and not just in the ranger community, we might be able to get some changes.
Funny thing is with more control the stronger we become. I vote we get more control, would help make pets like moas, pigs, spiders, and devourers more popular.
Am I good?… I’m good.
Don’t need that level of control where we tell our pet when to dodge and such. Having primary and secondary skills be controllable would be nice though. But only if they make the F2 abilities we already have actually useful.
Make F2 abilities fire off instantly regardless of what’s going on if it’s defensive in nature. Have them fire off instantly once within range if they’re an offensive ability. If they want to still play the entirely too long animations, that’s fine… but without these skills being used instantly they’re 110% useless.
Then give us F3 abilities to control the secondary effects for pets. Allow them to be turned on auto cast that way pets behave the same way they do now if players are lazy or find it too difficult.
If they seriously have a systems limitation that restricts them from adding another button to the bar, then simply make attack call your pet back if it’s already attacking the target.
If anet gives us more pet control, then rangers will preform better in pvp unless anet nerfs pets again.
I think this would be good because it’d make Rangers less dependent on exploitable/gimmicky tactics that attract nerfs. Beyond the raw damage, controlling pet utilities would open up a tool box of options for rangers in additional cc, buffs, and debuffs.
i think anet need to rethink ranger pets/spirits/whatevers. minions are always OP or underpowered in every game. and gw2 is a very diverse game. large and small scale fights. lot of small or one shot mobs… its a nightmare. if i were a designer can do some changes. remake spirits to virtue like things (may the force(of nature) be with you young ranger!) add some pets whats not pets actually, just little invulnerable, intargetable things whats follow you and provide buffs.
if we are the jack of all trades and already got stealth why not continue with virtue?
Just the WvW

I would really like to see what areanet can come up with minion wise/pet.
Certain fights are just plain out not fair for the ranger since pets are useless in fight where red circles exist to the extent of them covering the whole area.
Heck, I’d be contempt with the perma-stow damage boost.
Who are you arguing with?
Cuz I know it sure isn’t ANet…
