Welcome to the first ever episode of the Ranger focused podcast “Arrow To The Knee”.
In this episode, Battosai and Jin Drake are accompanied by Durzlla (a fellow ranger), in a brief, hour long introduction to this awesome profession. We started out by covering the initial reasons that brought us to picking the Ranger as main character, and evolved during the course of our discussion, to subjects such as pets, traits, conditions and even weapons, with some exemplification of Pve/PvP and WvWvW situations. As this is our first run, we tried to maintain everything barely superficial, as it is our desire to progress in detail, for the next episodes.
We hope that this podcast will serve as deeper look into the huge versatility that this profession brings to the game. It is also our desire to garantee that this profession has it’s place in the community that supports GW2 as it is also our hope to bring to light the huge potential behind the Ranger. We hope you will enjoy this as much as we are having fun in doing it.
Editor’s Note: Unfortunately I was unable to visit them before their first podcast as an Intro to the Class, but the ball has started rolling any feedback would be appreciated.

I can’t change the name every time they change a description ;p. As for his ability to contribute, we have over 20 guests including some of the top tournament guys, and some fun loving wvwvw and only pve guys. The game isn’t just about pvp.
Yeah, no… I’d sooner ask a drunk hobbo about the therapeutic applications of retroviruses.
Creative/Constructive criticism goes a longer way in helping the Ranger community.
This was a good example of how not to do it.

I am absolutely aware of that now haha! I will leave it up so your comments don’t look odd. The funny part is I believe I mentioned to the ranger podcasters about the fact that there is no i than proceeded to put the i in everything.
Gotta fix Batosai’s internet connection, then again after he was DCed from skype and raidcall etc it was fine for the rest of the show.
Hopefully you can get a Thief show going at some point.
Thank you! A lot of the EU guys end up with massive spikes in their mumble connection, and I think Danto from the Guardian side handles it by turning everything but the podcast off until it’s over. I don’t ask guys to do that, but it’s something that I am sure he is aware of :P.
As for the Thief show, we are working on getting all the professions setup with their own podcast. It’s a slow process because I like to focus on getting my podcasters comfortable with doing everything themselves before I move on to the next profession (generally there is an email that says, your awesome Bas, but we can handle this). I don’t really know a lot of thieves either so our podcasters come from applicants and people who I have met or been referred too.
I think we have the Warrior and maybe the Engineer one starting next month. I will start working on getting the Thief and Elementalist next.

Sorry to say, going from listening to mesmerized to listening to this, I was a bit disappointed :-/
I enjoy simply hearing the voices in Mesmerized while one guy’s voice in arrow to the knee and the constant technical problems were quite aggravating.
I also learn something new about my Mesmer (which I’ve played since beta) whenever I listen to Mesmerized while I did not learn anything about my Ranger (which I’ve played much less than my Mesmer) when I listened to Arrow to the Knee.
I appreciate that the Ranger podcast was finally started though and hope it improves. I’m sure getting one started for the Ranger class was harder than it was for Mesmer given the large differences in the two communities.

I think they did well considering their broadcasting experience and technical issues. I think the focus on the question of “how does ranger bring what others can’t” steered the conversation down several rabbit holes. I agree with sebrent that more focus on playstyle, builds, and stories about using ranger are more desirable. There were good moments for new players, I think, with focus in the pets kind of nice though.

Thanks for your input, that is apreciated. We wanted to start on a really light basis, so has to possibly draw in the attention of newer players to the Ranger. We will strive to delve more and more into every detail of the profession, however. I do apologise for the technical issues thought. We will be working on it, so I do believe we can clear that issue from this point onward. As you said, we got it out there. Now we can start building on top of it.

If possible, we want to even be able to touch on the diversity of thought processes between NA and EU, so that both sides can draw from eachother.
Bare with us as we try to create a foundation on which new players can draw from.
I also think that as we get more and more guests on, there simply will be no way we can avoid discussing builds and playstyle. I just didn’t want to jump immediatly into the thick of it.
