Ascended Pets
I’ve always thought a good idea would be to give pets trait points similar to what we have, but they have base stats as well. So a feline for example would have a higher base precision than toughness, but you could increase the toughness with the unspent points. Would you create the best tank pet with this? No, because a bear for example would have higher base toughness than a feline and using the unspent points would still be able to achieve the highest toughness of all the pets.
This would be nice for BM builds who want their glassy pets to be really strong but want a little defense in there too. Think about it, we’re rangers. We’ve tamed all the pets we own, and we fight alongside them. Surely we can also train them to be specifically good at one thing over another?
Actually replying to your ascended thought, I think pets should somehow scale because they still do the damage they did before asc was around. Which means somebody in full asc gear will take less damage from my pet, but if I’m wearing full asc as well, I can counter their asc. How they could implement this, I have no idea, but the more I think about it, the more necessary it becomes.
It is not what you do, but how and why you do it that counts.
it’d be fun, in order to unlock a certain ascended pet, you have to complete certain achievements with that pet’s type, like feline, ursine, etc. etc. and you can unlock fractal pets which have 20% higher stats than normal pets, move 20% faster, and deal 20% more damage

While we at it, we should make pets share the exact buffs we share. Not talking about might fury and all those boons. More like stuff like frost spirit, banners, time warps, things that are limited to the 5 person cap limit and severely gimps the pets DPS. Currently the damage difference between ranger + pet and the rest of the classes is ridiculous.
