I’m getting my Ranger to level 80 again after transferring servers and something that has been on my mind for a while is Assassin vs Berserker. Though Assassin is generally disliked I feel it has some potential and I’m curious how it compares with Berserker. Does the extra critical change balance out the loss in Power because of the more frequent critical hits?

If anyone has compared the two side by side I’d love to know the results of how much damage is lost with Assassins w/ Longbow/GS as it would be nice to save a bunch of gold not having to get Berserker again.

DPS (over a period of time) of Assassin vs Berserker is about the same, but berzerker has the potential to do higher burst if you get luck. So berzerker>assassin in most of time.

I generally am around 100% crit chance or even higher, so I use berserkers. Don’t forget to take in to account all the fury rangers get when you’re looking at this.

you should sit around 50% crit chance.
With Spotter + perma Fury while in a group you don’t need anymore crit chance.
Full Berserker would be better, you can mix it a little if you want.

I use assassins LB in WvW Zerg until sigil of perception is charged. Then equip zerker. Seems I do more damage this way early on. I mix celestial and zerker so base crit chance is 48% without sigil of perception charged. With 100% crit damage, I feel like assassins does slightly more damage until sigil charged. No hard numbers, just a feeling.
