Guild Wars 2

Been working on my Ranger a bit more now, currently running around with sword/warhorn and been using the second weapon set as axe/dagger. I’m curious, for those who uses axes, is there a better option? Torch? Dual axes?

And if so, why is it the better option?

I do keep a longbow on hand, for when I really need it, but most times I’m using the sword/horn combo anyways.

Well it really depends, if you’re primarily a Melee build I’d say axe/axe or axe/dagger would be your best bet because axe/dagger gives you an evade and cripple (makes closing and keeping the gap closed easier), and then axe/axe gives you a nice pull and an anti ranged ability (not to mention it’s a really strong Melee ranged attack).

If you’re going for a condi build taking a torch would be better for damage, hands down, but a dagger would give you a mix of damage and control/survivability.

I love axe/axe because of the excellent axe oh skills… also it occasionally synergizes well with axe #2, and also with itself if you take on several enemies.

Thanks for the info! I am trying to do a mainly “melee” ranger, with the bit of range from axes for pulls and catching runners. Of course keeping bows around for when needed!
