is it worth it to take axe over sword against certain bosses like the arah balthazar priest or malendru?.. i would think that the dps loss in axe is offset by the fact that you dont have to be dodging to dpsing these bosses.

Then I would just use GS. Axe is only decent if there are 2 targets to attack and even then you’d probably be better off with a GS with its built in evade on auto, evade on swoop and block on #4.

Either Bow or Greatsword would be superior to Axe, unless you are hitting 3 enemies.

I just find MH axe genuinely unpleasant to use in PvE, despite the might. Against a single target boss I can think of no worse weapon for ranger. Go nuts and use shortbow if you want to go ranged for a significant period of time.

Axe #1 needs improvement vs single targets for sure. Increasing damage of the first bounce would be one possible way to do that.
