Axe vs Sword
This has been discussed at length and it is common sense tbh
Sword-Best single target melee damage
Axe- Best multi-target ranged damage
The feature patch did not change anything; just made axe better at it’s intended function.
To avoid the inevitable Longbow vs. Shortbow thread I’ll just summarize all of the weapons for you.
Shortbow-Power condi hybrid
Longbow-Zerker power damage pew pew blastah
Torch- condi+fire field
Dagger- Condi+evade
Axe off hand- power+reflect
Warhorn-power+blast

Sword is the most dps ranger weapon,… and the most broken weapon in GW2. It is terrible to use. A real pain in the cat if you are not geographically close to the server.
Axe has terrible dps… its probably only useful for tagging mobs in zerg events but you can’t take it seriously in any dungeon.
Zerk is the average Joe build. Don’t pat yourself in the back too hard.
Axe can be good Dps if built correctly, those might stacks give it some Hitting power for Power/Sub condi builds using Axe on its own isn’t any good it needs Qz or Extra Bleeds on sigil+ Sharpen edges to deal its dps.
it is the best Multi target Range weapon because it also provides Control elements if teamed up with a Dagger-offhand+gs or Sword+torch.
