Guild Wars 2

My Ranger is quickly approaching level 80, and I am going to play a 30/10/30 build similar to a Xorsus’s build. It seems most people apothecary gear and deal damage using conditions.

However I was wondering how I should gear if I plan on using a Greatsword with sword and dagger or horn. Greatsword wont get much use out of apothecary gear, and from my understanding the cleric gear is lackluster compared to the apothecary setup? I plan to use the build in WvW in small scale skirmishes and 1v1’s, so survivability and moderate damage are my main goals, with the Greatsword mobility to get out in a pinch.

So my question….. If I want to run the build with a Greatsword, should I just switch to full clerics or still use apothecary gear? Im trying to avoid spending a ton of gold on both sets as I dont have enough to play with both sets.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

I am running with GS/Shortbow and I use cleric armor with the all-stats (ascended stuff) trinkets. In my opinion thats a good mix.
For the weapons I either use cleric or knight most of the times.

I tried a while ago going full knights with 30 BM, 20 Skirm and 20 WS (I think). Could deal a considerable amount of direct damage and with a 30BM pet you have amazing DPS and surprisingly high survivability from 3000 armour.

I am curious to see other responces though because I am looking to try out a BM/cond setup too, if I ever find the gold
