The Never Ending Repertoire of Ranger Builds

I wanted to share a couple of videos of my current BM HYBRID build. Some would say its not even a hybrid of the common BM build. Some say it is. I’ll let you guys decide. The first video is in a tPvP match. I had a couple of 1vs1 and 1vs2 scenarios so you guys can get an idea of its survivability while still being able to dish out damage through conditions.

This is my first time using Movie Maker so I messed up on the music volume on the first video.
The second video is me dueling.
I’m hoping for feedback along with suggestions. If anyone knows how to use a MSI Afterburner correctly without it freezing let me know. Right now if I put it at 16:9 720p or higher it freezes the game.

interesting build, never seen it’s like and haven’t watched the vids yet so will not attempt to feedback for now except to say that sigil of energy and geomancy don’t work together – it will be random which triggers.
Already tried this kind of build with some trait and utility tweaks. It works. However its subpar to other, more common BM builds. Main problem is that SB only applies Bleeding stacks while flanking so the main advantage of this build, the high condition output, fizzle out in dust.Untraited Traps are not worth to be used. Tested it with a couple of friends – Even thiefs can stand in them without feeling too much pressure – I would exchange with the renewal signet for condition removal. This is what this build lacks in (despite healing spring).
Ravens do more F2 damage.
I haven’t updated the link yet but instead of Sigil of Energy, I use Sigil of Water. I don’t consider SB as my main bleed proc. Dagger 5 and Sharpening stone far outweigh SB’s bleed duration. Once those land, all it takes is one proc of SB bleed to restart the 10+seconds duration. As for Ravens, I used to run Owl and the black Raven but I like the 6 second cool down on both of my birds. I’m able to land an F2 twice before pet swapping. I appreciate the suggestions.

For a build that wants more consistent pressure/damage, he is right to bring hawk/eagle. Assuming conditions are not cleansed, each one adds about 1500 damage to their f2 because of bleeds anyway.
However, even though your build is gearing towards conditions, it doesn’t change the fact that Sharpening Stone is an absolute rubbish utility. Your bleed application cannot really be controlled once it is active and the 5 hit limit can’t really be justified vs the recharge. I would bring something like Lightning Reflexes.

Totally agree here, the build is pretty solid, however I would stay more flexible on the utilities and change them depending on what type of encounter you feel you will be finding. If it’s really a random thing then do stick with what you are comfortable with, but lightning reflexes mixed with hornet sting can be a much better choice in general PvP encounters; especially if you plan on running away into your allies or grab a few seconds to catch a heal or cooldowns.
The one comment I do have is that you never relied on using your elite root skill, which could have made certain fights (like the ranger one) a lot more manageable.

I totally agree. I believe Sharpening Stone has its uses, but for the most part it’s considered a highly useless skill. I do switch out my utilities depending on the situation. I mostly have any of the following 3 utilities on my bar: SotH, SotW, SoR, Flame trap and Sharpening Stone. I’ll definitely add LR to my list.

Haha, I was waiting for someone to notice that. Before the duel we agreed to not use our elites. I wanted to hit my Entangle so many times during that duel…
Cool videos, thanks for sharing.
Running apoth gear in WvW?

At the moment, no. I’m currently running my 30/30/0/0/10 build in WvW. But, I will be running this build in a week or so.
