Hey, I’ve been away from my Ranger for months. When I came back to GW2 there had been several updates including a big one. With this big update I was totally lost with my Ranger as it didn’t feel the same, I went back to my Warrior but I want to give my Ranger some attention.

I don’t see anyone talk about BM builds anymore, are BM builds pointless now? Are they or can they be viable in WvW? I pretty much stick to PVE and WvW.

I’ve not tried it since the reduced pet damage by 50%.

However, the trait that gives pet might on crit can give your pet 25 stacks of might. longbow barrage + rapid fire + 100% crit chance (might have to use assassin stats) and add “Rampage as One” to it and you’re definitely doing good. Add some boon duration to it too (im not sure if it uses your boon duration or that of your pet).

I haven’t really tried it out though. BM usually isn’t about critting since the pet isn’t reliable, so you need to be able to sit it out by being very tanky.

They didn’t reduce pet damage by 50%. The total damage reduction was more in the area of 20%.

Beastmaster builds are obviously not as strong as they once were but are still viable because they still work reasonably well within the condition/bunker focused metagame that currently dominates solo roaming.

If you want to ride the current bandwagon for small-scale WvW, though, go with your warrior. Currently nobody can really handle the stun-spamming, high regen builds that are all the rage with that class.

They ’re mostly pointless in WvW even when roaming. Only good in sPVP.
