Berserker's or Assassin's for casual PvE?
Berserker gear, Ranger runes
Also might wanna move a point from Skirmishing to Nature Magic for Spirits Unbound.

Ah yes… I didn’t think of ranger runes (duh), but that clicks.
I’m now in zerks + ranger runes, except an exotic 80 assassin chest piece that I got for completing cursed shore.

Why would you ever want to give up 50 precision, 50 ferocity and a 10% modifier to have your spirits clumsily follow you when you can just place it smarter and reset it by switching it off and on your bar again?
I believe the optimal is something like full zerk with like 2-3 assassin pieces but the difference is so marginal you can just go full zerk.

Is knight’s gear worth using so it serves double duty with occassional WvW? Or is it that suboptimal for farming, occasional dungeons, etc. I have bad reflexes and while I’m getting better at dodging practicing on veterans in Orr, I still fumble a bit and I think the toughness is a useful training wheel until my player skill builds. Am I completely wrong?
To OP : Go zerker, especially if you are casual with exotic only. In your build you didn’t choose any stats for your weapons so it should be 63% crits chance. Rune of the Ranger is a bit less dps, but if you play casual Ranger could be more dps since the buff is always there. Either are good it depend on what you prefer.
To Kargos : Knight could be ok in PvE if you have difficulty to survive in full zerker. Zerker will be better overall if you have difficulty with it try a couple knight pieces so you feel comfortable. But it will be bad in WvW. If you wanna play LB + GS in zerg fight you will usually bring Soldier gear with Melandru Runes and zerker trinkets. But if you want to roam in WvW, then a mix of Zerker and Knight could in theory work for both if you keep Rune of the Ranger. It would not be ideal for both, but that’s one of the rare time where you could do a decent job in both pve and wvw roaming with a single set of armor. Just don’t go too strong on the knight armor.
I was considering Melandru runes since I’m definitely more susceptible to conditions. So the reason for soldier is vitality? I didn’t know until now that conditions ignore toughness, so vitality I guess is the only defense along with those runes. Thanks, this has really helped!
I guess I’ll keep the knight exotics I made, and make the rest berserkers and just practice more. I ran a few dungeons last night and nobody was stacking with buffs like all the videos the pros make so I was using knights with healing spring for sustain trying to figure out what to dodge.
The answer to both of course is an appropriate set of gear for each role, I was just trying to cut corners while I farmed up the mats. I appreciate the help.

Rune of the Ranger is a bit less dps than what? I am currently using Ranger Runes but been trying to up dps so it might help me.

Scholar is slightly more DPS if you can keep your health above 90% … I think its its 60% of the time? Something like that. Rune of the Ranger’s 6th bonus is also activated by minis, so its always up.
Basically, if you’re Pr0 and/or run with very organized groups and therefore never get hit, Scholar gives slightly better DPS.
Gear-wise, if you’re full exotic and meta 6/5/0/3/0, head/chest/legs assassin and everything else zerk is slightly better dps, but its marginal and depends on many things so full zerk is fine.
Full berserker set with dmg runes and you should be allright :-)
I myself use Runes of the Eagle (increases precision, crit chance and dmg on targets with low health)

What Taverius said is right. If you can keep yourself at 90% hp about half the time then Scholar will be about 4-5% more dps. If you can’t, then Ranger will be a safer bet.
Meh, for Casual solo PvE you can do whatever you want, who cares? I’m running around in Clerics with Vampire and I’ve never even approached a problem. What exactly does “optimal” do for you when you’re soloing anyway? Do you honestly kill trash so much faster that it matters?

That’s what I was thinking. Unless you’re going to party up for dungeons/fractals it really doesn’t matter.
