Hi Ranger community. I’ve been doing sPVP more often and I’ve been trying out the ranger as my primary class. I wanted to know what you’ve found to be the most successful BM build so far. I’ve found myself doing fairly well, but I hope that with some suggestions, I could do much better. I’d love to know what you recommend and what’s currently working well for you all.

I use a 0/20/20/0/30 build. Shortbow and Greatsword, Sigil of Battle on both weapons. Soldier’s Amulet, Melandru Runes. Wolf and Snow Leopard.

I haven’t lost a 1v1 yet! 1v2s I can win against certain profession combinations, but not all. Who cares, though? If I can’t win it, I can run! xD

I tried a 0/0/30/10/30 regen bunker build, but I didn’t like it very much ’cause I missed my 20% Shortbow cooldown and extra pet damage.

It’s very standard and strong build, with its usual purpose in tourny play being to bunker a point while outputting more than decent condition damage, with the pet doing strong power damage.

The wolf is better against a moving target and should be considered the control pet, while the jaguar is the damage pet.

I find myself weapon swapping almost on cooldown against opponents with poor burst potential, but on an opponent who can reliably land burst, like a zerker mesmer, having the sword/dagger set available to use the weapon evade skills is almost necessary in order to maintain the upper hand.

BM trait choice is preference, since I don’t particularly find the family traits appealing, and having lowered cooldowns means more use out of the pets stronger skills. Vigorous Renewal is a stronger trait option if Healing Spring is taken over Troll Unguent, because it pulses AoE vigor for any teammates who happen to be in it, and will also provide you with longer vigor if you’re able to stay inside your spring (and aren’t forced out).

However, I choose Trolls for its higher healing potential, and just general healing over time awesome factor lol. That would change if I had a consistent team I played with I’m sure, but since I play solo usually, I run things that are more of a boon to myself since I can’t always rely on the competence of my team.

Thanks for the posts guys! I am actually running something very close to jcbroe’s build at the moment. I’ve been running 0/10/30/0/30 though and using runes of the undead. I’m using the 3 signets, and troll urgent as the heal. I’ve been using raven and eagle for the pets. I’ve experimented with wolf/jaguar. I guess I’ll give them another look.
