Best Pets for support builds?
PvE, PvP or WvW?
Wolf is always good to interrupt stomps, with good communication the smokescales F2 can safe a lot of butts, fern hound gives regen, but healing spring does it already quite easily for the whole team. I’d run smokescale + wolf in PvP and WvW and stalker + smokescale in PvE
Depends what you mean by support and what is needed. For instance, red moa can keep fury up on the party if you need that. Fern hound is good for heals. Brown bear cleanses conditions. Other pets can provide fields.

Please, be noted that DPS is still the most important support.
Apart from that, Fern Hound is amazing to give you easy bonus access to Astral Form if you do not have another source of Regeneration in your build.
Apart from that – Jungle Stalker or Tiger (if your group does not bring the buffs) are the support pets of choice.
The answer really depends on your build, your skill choices, and whether you’re willing to take a beating or not.
For example, if you’re using a ‘Guard’ shout/regeneration build where your pet’s F2 is also traited to heal, then a fern hound is somewhat pointless. Add Heal as One, and it’s even more pointless in this example.
Again, depends on what traits and skills you’re using. But really, any pet that adds a buff to the party over time is a bonus. Moas, cats, etc. would be good for support.
if your weapons are of the Inmobility type CC / immobilises / cripples/ Main hand axe chills ect or having Pet share boons with swiftness and or Beastmastery with quickness.
going down the support route means you’d need might generation to share with the pet to buff the pet to recover the damage lost for that Support.
in this case close combat weapons would be better suited like Axe main hand and Warhorn/dagger or staff + Axe/Axe for path of scars things that buff the pet while dealing Side effects like weakness/might gain / push pulls that also benifit the support roles of druid while benifiting the pets.
my reasons for Snow leapord and a Wolf or lighting Drake.
Tail swipe blast into water or firefields since you are support im going to assume CC’s and mid-healer not full healer ect and being in pet swap range while able to put down a waterfield or fire trap(firefiled ect if condi/support druid)
Felines have the most damage and a leap to keep the damage going it also triggers splashes which have supporting effects rather than damaging effects from the fields , this in turn will allow the pet to generate its own might from a fire aura which you can then copy with heal as one or then double up with Fortifying bond.
you could even use a Tiger for a fury to help combat team mates or reapply Remoresless to a melee ranger, its a win-win , increased Vun/grace of land/healing and vastly improved pet damage.
the wolfs are a here or there on a support druid the down time in distance movement and the casting of said f2s isn’t worth the damage down time or the non-controlable leap kd they do , since it is not in your control without swapping pets ( meaning you loose boon Buffs)
you can’t effectly control when to deal damage unlike felines which you can keep out/heal then command on f2 when needed but since you have Staff and maybe off-hand axe with the immobility cc’s you won’t need a KD so its better to just keep kiting and lashing the pet into your oppnents legs.

My Support build is based on bleeds, blinds, and heals.
So I use Owls, and Ravens. It’s also part of my RP build. Works great in pve. Also great for my pet tanking, and tanking aggro.
