Q:
Which pet is most useful vs break bars? Perferably on demand with F2.
(edited by Sockso.4753)
Wolf, it has 3 CCs (including the most “damaging” to breakbars, fear.)
An engineer with slick shoes.
Just gotta “convince” one to be your pet.

This. Pair that with Beastly Warden, Wilting Strike, and Go For The Eyes, and most bars will drain quick.

how does it have 3?
KD, Fear, and?
Think he’s counting the leap that applies cripple.
I like hyena, taunt, knock down, knock down, cripple cripple

Cripple moves the breakbar a minmal amount per duration. For the condi CCs, the “harder” they are, the more they affect the breakbar. So fear is max, cripple is minimum, and the others are in between. I have a sigil of ice on my LB, so randomly get some minor breakbar movement through that, for example.
i guess taunt is also very damaging?
just trying to get the druid to at least melt the break bar if needed
Taunt is a little less damaging to the breakbar than fear.

Oh you meant for breaking the bar. I just took the CC definition out of context.
Consider the Electric Wyvern? KD on f2, Blowout on Wings, Cripple on Tailswipe
Can also combo into taunt.
That is about all it will do though… pet is pretty meh.

I use it for the instant break of bar.
Wolf has that cast time. Aaaand yes, that’s pretty much it.
Imo a boar with the marksmanship duration trait. It’s a little rng but you can pick up some crazy cc items from him.

This is an interesting point to be made.
+1
If you get the skull and have MoC, you get 4 seconds of fear at the closest range, which is equal to the wolf’s KD + fear. If you’re at SB range it’s only 2 seconds. If the enemy is immobile, the pig might land his own KD. If that happens it surpasses the wolf’s cripple, but that’s a lot of “ifs”.
It makes at least a little sense in WvW where you can take CC runes and MoC, but I don’t think you should ever take a pig in PvE.
With MoC it’s 6 s fear in melee range and even more if you have some extra condi duration (theoretically up to 12 seconds).

Are you sure? The wiki lists it as a 2 second max fear rather than 3.

Shhhhhhh!
Didn’t you learn anything of talking about beneficial intended stuff?
does MoC affect fear? last time i checked it only affected stun and daze… arent you confusing ranger with the necro?
It does double the duration on the pig forage items that the ranger uses, it doesn’t work on the wolf fear or other pet applied interrupts.
Edit: Just double checked that it still worked and it does. There has actually been a WvW gimmick build for a long time where you use a bunch of modifiers to stack the skull fear up to stupid durations (and in addition to it being well known, the whole thing is nullfied by a single condi removal, so it should be safe to talk about it.)

lets not forget. The wiki isn’t an official resource, or at least the information isn’t to be assumed correct. It can and will be wrong, especially if not updated frequently. There are instances where the wiki is correct and the tooltips aren’t, and there are cases where the wiki is very wrong.

No, I meant that everytime anything beneficial is mentioned, ANet will make sure it’s hammered into oblivion. Even if no one uses it and never will.

I tested MoC with foraged items during halloween. The durations weren’t affected at all.

thats right, MoC affects only stun and daze, no fear, and also only affect ranger skills, no items or other effects.

Wrong. MoC does affect fear and it does affect the CC from the boar’s items. The only thing it doesn’t affect are the tooltips of those skills, but the actual duration of the CC is doubled (same with Technobabbel).
Smokescale is pretty good too he has a very short cd knockdown.
The skull fear is definitely affected by MoC, which I tested at the time of my above post. The tooltip is wrong, both with and without MoC. Base duration is a max 3 seconds, and it doubles to 6 on application.
