If you pick sylvari, their vine immobilize utility skill looks somewhat similar to entangle and you can trick people into blowing their stunbreaks to get out of a fake entangle :P

but seriously, race doesn’t really matter. pick the one you like

I faced the same decision 5 days ago. I went with Sylvari for two reasons:

• They look amazing.
• They can fit a nature theme quite well and I wanted my ranger to have a bit of forrest feel to her.

If you wanted a technobabble build you’d go asuran.

Outside of that, it doesn’t matter.

Asuran. Technobabble, and it’s harder for the enemy to see your skills.

Fashion? Bah, Asura are a waste of armor when it comes to that! (unless you just care about only you seeing your fashionable character). I am Charr, and everyone sees what I’m wearing quite clearly! All you shorties look the same from up here.

Charr have really bad armor and humans/norn have far and away the best armor. That’s about what it comes down to. Also technobabble isn’t half bad.

Charrs have four ears and horns, they have huge claws, and probably great sense of smell. They should make the best rangers. However their available armors are far from being amazing.

Humans because this is Fashion Wars and everything Fashion is made for Humans.

Also Hounds of Balthazar is the best Elite for rangers in organized dungeon content

Asura. You can’t beat the hilarity of the Technobabble MoC build!

Norn & Sylvari, because most medium armor sets look really bad & nornslyvari cultural t3s are actually decent. As a pve player Norn is the masterrace imo, simply because the snowleopard norn elite is a great tool to skip trashmobs. (and the other norm forms have niche uses as well)

Moment of clarity, Great sword, shortbow, technobabble. MoC doubles the duration of your stuns and dazes, you space them out and keep your opponent completely shut down. It’s hilarious in small scale fights.

I have run hybrid and more tanky versions as well, you can swap a bunch of stuff around to better suit your play style.

Norn because they worship animals and Ranger has animal companions… Isn’t it obvious? :P

Also, Sylvari because they are close to nature just like Rangers.
