Hi, I have all class to 80. I use my necro and guardian for wvw Zerg fight.
I would like to take the best class for roaming solo. I search forum and web and it seem to be thief, engi and mesmer.
But I think some say ranger.
What is your opinion and a possible build.

Thief.

Depends on what you’re doing. If you mean 1v1s, probably mesmer. If you mean actually roaming… taking camps, dolyaks, cutting off reinforcements, skirmishing, i.e well rounded, I put ranger ahead of thief and mesmer. Ranger is way more mobile than mesmer.

Edit: Also it’s totally irrelevant. Play what you’re good at an enjoy.

What I have in mind, is some 1v1, 1v2 and what you said, camp, dolyaks and all. All by myself and I won’t do Zerg with this class.

If ranger is the class what build should a go, trapper or something else….

Dire trapper
Apothecary + Dire BM condi bunker
Clerics BM regen bunker
Glassbow (full zerk longbow DPS build)
Crit-tank (Cavaliers + knights)
Celestial something….

Ranger is no longer in the category of top roamers. Thief and Mesmers, the PD and PU variants are.

Ranger is easily in the TOP, just not “the king”.

Thief/Ranger > mesmer at mobility, camp clearing, sentry clearing
Mesmer/Thief > ranger at 1v1 prowess
Ranger/thief > mesmer at 1vX
Ranger > Thief/Mesmer in small group Support
Mesmer > Thief/Ranger in small group utility
Thief > Ranger/Mesmer in duo support.

Thief, Ranger, Mesmer > warrior, ele, necro, guardian, engineer in anything related to roaming.

Mobility:
FGS DD ele > GS + SWH warrior > Shortbow Thiekittenword/X + GS Ranger > Engineer > Mesmer > Guardian > Necromancer

Good Power Necro is always legit for roaming. Can beat almost everyone, but takes some skill and situational awarness.
