Blast effect on longbow (or both bows)?
You mean like an AE? A blast finisher is a no go for obvious reasons. As far as the arrows exploding on contact or something like that? I personally would be fine if arrows always pierced and not need the trait to do it. I know some people have stated they don’t like this idea because it’s not PvE friendly while leveling though.

Yea I realize making it a blast finisher would be too OP, but what about a blast effect like ele dagger #3, which does blast damage without making it a finisher? And I heard people actually don’t like piercing because it is awkward to use due to having to line people up.

Piercing is nice because you can count on your weapon to hit what you have selected and not be body blocked. That alone makes it worth it. But as for trying to use it to effectively AE a crowd, it’s not that great for the very reason you mentioned. It has its moments though.
Having a blast finisher on AA sounds a bit crazy…
But what you are describing is basicly the harpoon #1.
I always found it funny how it does really have our best AA. 1200 range, bleeds no matter where you hit them and it does AoE damage (and bleeds) where it hits? And can be traited to 1500 and piercing.
Yes please. Shame its underwater really.

Actually the auto can’t pierce on the harpoon because once it hits it explodes the projectile, only 2 things that pierce ever underwater are mercy shot and coral shot, I mean Pirahna swarm or w/e it’s called will “pierce” only if the first person blocks or evades it, it’ll keep going and try and hit someone else instead to spawn the Pirahna area instead of just being nullified.

If he a got a blast finisher it would most likely accompany are range nerf (at least for the affected skill). That alone would prompt me to give a nay vote.
everyone should fear becoming mentally clouded and obsessed with one small section of truth.
I realize a blast finisher would be too OP, but what about a blast effect? Also, changed the topic title to reflect the change.

Piercing should be condensed with Quick draw in the skirmish line.
It annoys me greatly that we have to spec 20 points in marks for piercing and a further 20 points in skirmish for quickdraw, while Warriors get “crack shot”: piercing and skill recharge reduction for only a 10 point investment
you want a blast effect put Superior Sigil of Fire on your bow.
30% Chance on Critical: Trigger a Flame Blast for AoE Damage
(Cooldown: 5 Seconds)
you should see this with barrage. Lots of exploding arrows

I think the best option is taking piercing and applying it to the Rangers bow skills. If I remember correctly most classes don’t have to trait to have their attacks hit more than one target in a line. Mesmer GS Is one I can think of.

Idk, I kinda like only needing to spend 20pts in marksman (the more useful tree stat wise) to be able to pierce

Barrage should be 10% chance for blast finisher per wave.
That’d be fun.

make it 20% and i’d be thrilled.
Currently @ some T1 server in EU

It’d be so broken though….

Spending 20 is fine, yes, but you miss my point though, you’re spending 20 for piercing, but to get skill recharge, thats a further 20 in a different line, 40 total.
War spends only 10 to get both effects.
I think the LB is fine as is though it could use a little more damage. I do believe though we’d be better off with a staff with some finishers attached to it.
Have a couple of abilities on it that ground target much like the necro, maybe another ability buffs allies. Put a nature type attack on #1, and well whatever seems “staff like” for the last skill lol. Put combo fields on all these and voila. I’d actually much prefer this over even having a GS.
i think blast finisher would be best on the stealth or knockback skills. mainly to allow for area might when a ranger could benefit from it, when the target is close enough that the blast would buff the ranger. after all, those two skills are the ones you would use in melee in a defensive manor. blast finisher would also add an offensive effect as well. could possibly even synergize with Moment of Clarity grandmaster skirmish trait (gain attack of opportunity upon interrupting a foe), but that would mean it would be on the shorter cooldown stealth, which would slow DPS. i suppose the blast would make up for the momentary pause though.
only trouble though, could be OP with piercing arrows if it triggered on every foe it passed through…
I want the invisibility attack to give me swiftness, the knockback to apply cripple and barrage to apply bleed aswell as have a shorter cd aside from that I kinda like it as it is.
