Should ranger have the ability to strip boons with a pet? Why or why not? How would this mechanic function?

Edit: this is just a theorycrafting exercise for fun for people who like that sort of thing. Someone asked me this same question yesterday so I figured I’d put it up here for you guys to talk about since I didn’t really have any thoughts on the matter.

why not..? range’s pet will get more n more buff till it can be a real force to be reckoned with.. in dungeon, or pvp..

yeah, strip 1 boon with a cast time of 2.5 secs every 30 secs. :/

Haha, yeah, I don’t know. This isn’t really a serious suggestion, just for fun. But, if you want to get really hilarious, it would be more like:

2.5 s cast, 3s animation total (clearly sarcasm)

Steal first boon or destroy one boon at random (that second one sounds nice…)

30 s cooldown (realistic)

Now here’s the kicker: Stolen boons have a 1 s fixed duration. (wat)

Edit: The name of the skill would be Felonious Talon and it would be an activated ability of a new bird type. Of course, it’s probably a wacky suggestion and anet surely has plans of their own. Anyways, thanks for the laugh.

Make it a stacking skill. Once the stack reaches 25, the pet explodes causing AOE damage to foes and applies poison, burning and bleed for 5 seconds consecutively.

Ranger is barred from using that pet again for 10 minutes. A different pet must be equipped.

I don’t particularly like boon stripping on any class, but I definately want a pet Skale!!!

What do you guys think about a pet that can make a smokefield? Like a steam-pet.

What about this funny flying jellyfish (I don’t remember name lol)? It’d be ranged pet with skill to transfer boon (boons?) from enemy to ranger. Imo it should be F2 skill or it’d be useless (unless it had some very short CD – 10 sec maybe?).

Yeah I’ve heard some good ideas for pets…I’d want Griffons too but they’re kind of weak Maybe buff them as pets though?

[Ungulate Family] Stag/Doe, Ram, Marmox – CC pets

[Raptor Family] – High damage pets

[Skelk/Skale Family] – Condition Damage pets

Add a tiger to the cat family and a coyote to the canine family. Just ’cause I like them. xD

Wind rider would be cool. It would be nice if the pet then shared the boon with the group. Would let rangers bring something new to the table…and of some use.
