Bristleback F2 skill not hitting?
Yes, it works indeed just like a shot-gun.
The closer you are, the more projectiles will hit.
If the target is far away – you’ll hate your life for ever creating a Ranger class.
This has been brought up a lot of times. Don’t expect any improvements or fixes. Just manually pay attention to your pets. We’ve always been the class to fight our own mechanics instead of our enemies.

I couldn’t find anything in the first 5 pages of forums and with the search function finding nothing for Bristleback…wasn’t about to go through 425 more pages manually.
Can’t really do anything manually to control Bristleback as telling it to attack just leaves it at range and can’t get it closer without running in and pet swapping. Oh well. Thanks anyways.
Its very simple, it works best with zephyr’s speed trait. You wait for the right time, swap to
Bristleback , press F2 and watch your targer hp going very low, combine this with we heal as one(jsut while the brits F2 is getting ready, you have like 1 sec dealy) for might boost on brits if you also have NM traitline. You can also do it after stealth from CA. Talking about improvments for this pet is ridiculous, its performance is way out of charts.

It wasn’t a specific thread made about Bristle. It was rather a QQ reaction from a thief that got his but razed and some people (me included) brought this fact about Bristle’s unreliability from range.
The pet is dangerous with proper melee positioning. I don’t believe Anet’s gonna improve it for 1200 range as well. That’s why I suggested you to train a bit by manually recalling him to closer range and then backing away again.
Use your bristleback in melee range and profit. It may look like a ranged pet, but it’s in close combat that this baby really shines – both Rain of spikes and Spike barrage are really devastating up close.
Bristleback f2 is best used after swap in melee range. I usually hit pet swap, we heal as one, pet F2, then cover it with signet of equality, or a fast lunar impact, so opponents can’t use weapon evade.

Fixt for you.
