I think smokescale is overrated. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an A+ level pet. But bristleback and a core pet such as wolf, drake, or bird are all respectable choices.

Edit: smokescale is a general pet that works with any build. Obviously you built around the drake and that’s why it’s better in this case.

There is an obvious explanation.

Tail Swipe is just like Wyverns. It does stuff. If it hits.
Bristle and SmokeScale are reliable pets. That’s why obvious choices.
I got to use wolf again instead of smokescale, though.

I use double drakes for PvE (marsh and river). With Quickness pet swapping + F2, it’s good too.

I use Smokescale and Bristle or Wolf for PvP.

I still use carrion devourer and wolf in wvw ;-)

5 cap aoe poison, refined toxin poison bot and it help me break cannons.

Needs nerfed so that all it does is lower the enemy’s defense like Tail Whip.
