Build: Power Ranger - I am The Laaw!
Hey Jebro,
Looks like a risky build with no condition removal. Get hit by an immob, cripple or chill and you are dead. Since you traited into having protection and vigor, I’d swap signet of stone for renewal. Its a stunbreak and a condiremoval as well. I also became a fan of sword warhorn over greatsword, but I’m more of a wvw guy, so there’s that.
I would be interested in your oppinion on longbow rangers in more detail though given the massive amount of hate/complaints regarding rapid fire. Being a shoutcaster (hope I got it right), what are your experiences looking at pvp tournaments (since that will be the basis of balancing. Do you see longbow ranger chaning pvp? If yes is it for better or worse?

Since I’m the one who actually made this build I’ll let you know why I went with Signet of Stone and Greatsword.
Yes, the build lacks condi removal, no doubt. But to play this properly in competitive play your team needs to adapt to play with a power ranger, your team will have to provide you with the condi cleanse needed. If you get stun-locked by lets say a warrior, then the signet of stone is amazing. Thiefs will always give you a hard time as power ranger, but if you pop the stone signet when a thief jumps on you then you have a really great chance of winning the fight.
Greatsword got mobility, evade, block, stun, knockback and huge spike.
If you use signet of the wild and hunt, swap to GS and get critical hit you can almost instagib squishy classes. Sword has great survivability but it lacks DPS which the GS provides.

What he said Its Laaws build
But I have thoughts as well… generally :P
This is a very all or nothing build. You really need your team to be on board with this and if you get spiked every time the enemy sees you, it could be disastrous.
I agree with nagymbear, I think you can add a lot of survivability by switching just some minor things and barely lower your damage.
But variety is the spice of life I guess.
Came to the forums to check post-featurepack builds for my now very dusty ranger and discover my own Guildleader posted one. gonna try this out. thanks and ofc thanks to Brix

Sooo…. any thoughts of what LB rangers mean to PvP currently/in the future?

I wouldn’t recommend eagle eye. There is very few area’s in maps that will allow to use 1500 unit range without some form of line of sight interference. If this build relies heavily on it’s team mates for condition clearing and assistance just to do single target damage then helping out your team that is supporting you should be more of a priority than the limited times you’ll find someone for a few seconds in that sweet spot of 1200+unit range. Generally the ,ap area won’ allow for many good LoS area’s like thius, or it will only be a matter of seconds before they are now under 1200 unit range making the skill only have limited useful for you, and you only. No one else will be able to engage at 1500. Whereas spotter..well, everyone around you benefits from that.

On Legacy, Temple and Khylo it’s really useful and there’s quite a lot of spots where the enemy can’t LoS properly.

Well as one who does a lot of spvp and tpvp, we are pretty much hated. I have been called a sniping coward (duh!!! that’s what I do!!!) and that we are OP and general map raging to no end. Playing a “power ranger” I sacrifice a lot of defensives and condi cleanse for power so I am pretty glass but can do a TON of damage. I see power rangers as a pure contested point support role. We can easily float point to point and deal damage, hit and run. Many 1v1’s I can handle except for most engi’s and win a lot more than I lose. Tpvp is more difficult mainly because of the caliber of players who know how to counter the LB damage. I can wreak havoc on a point with several people but I have to know my limitations. For the people who rage on me saying we are OP I just remind them to L2P. The tpvp community has easily adjusted to the ranger buff.
If this build becomes popular tPvP meta I will shave my legs and wear a bikini to a nightclub. (I’m male, just to prevent any weird PMs. Or perhaps elicit even weirder ones.)
Edit: I don’t mean to discourage LB users or say anyone is kitteny for using this, it’s just way too one dimensional and risky to ever be meta.

basicaly LB power are the new thief zerk just from range instead of stealth
how many thieves do you see these days in pvp arena … not many
