check this post
they are talking about viable PvE builds.
Thanks but the post in that topic just include one Bow I’m looking for a duel bow build.

There is no build available that will fit all of that criteria.
pve and bowbuild that is viable or good for groups..sorry guy but their is no build that got booth ^^
I was sort of guessing I would get this response.
I’m wondering what build Eir Stegalkin is using because I’ve only seen her using a Bow.
Item names lead in that direction as well:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Eir's_Short_Bow
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Eir's_Longbow
Any speculation on what that build would look like? The great Eir uses both so there should be at least be some quasi useful build out there one would hope.

Well. I dont have alot of pve experience but from a ranger as a whole i can tell you that the long and short bow are sub optimal weapons at best and that is when they are backed up with something more useful in the swap spot. If you were to run both bows at once it would just be a nightmare. in regards to the Bows being named having something to do with meaning you can use them both at the same time. Im fairly sure thats not what they were trying to convey.
Have you taken a look to see what the other well known Rangers are running ? thats always a great place to start.

Think about this – There’s no movie, or video game, or book, etc where a character uses two bows exclusively. Every ranger/hunter I can name used a bow and a sword interchangeably. WoW Hunters were built around having 1 ranged and 1 melee weapon. Legolas had a backup sword. Heck even the Green Arrow in the new TV show doesn’t try firing arrows at close range.
I think you’ll find yourself a lot happier if you dedicate at least one of your weapon sets to melee. Sword preferably.
I understand that there are way better builds available using different weapon types. I just wanted to try something outside the norm. Since there has not even been one build recommendation that uses duel bows I guess that means I’m way outside the norm on this.
So I took it upon myself to just wing it and try to come up with something based on what I am going for. I want my pets to do some damage and have reasonable sustainability that way I can range all the time and I need to be strong with bows.

never use SoH, in dungeons it´s just useless
to push pet dmg it´s better to get the two traits in skirmishing, try to place the frost spirit in range for all team mates

I understand what you want, just the game may not want to give it to you. If your focus is around these weapon types and a must to the way you like to play,
swap Malicious Training for Steady focus
swap Eagle eye for Spotter (you will never need that xtra range in pve, and PvP outside of LB #5 your opponent will more then likely just not get hit…too slow).
swap Master’s Bond for Mighty swap
swap Rending attacks for Vigorous Training
Natures wrath & Natural healing tend to be for solo BM bunker builds, I would drop those & another 10 out of BM for Vigorous Spirits/spirits unbound+ Frost spirit.
But then again this is just my opinion on your setup, if you don’t plan to take part in high level FOTM just play the way you like, your play style will work itself out.
Hope it helps
Thanks Wetpaw for the advice! As for gear is it the general consensus that rangers use zerker gear? I have read some places its good to have condition duration/damage.

Sadly there just are too few viable builds for dual bow use. any other style ranger will destroy a Dual bow user. Now for pve it might be a little better. but im not sure how much. if you want to stay totally “ranged” you could do Long Bow – Axe/Horn or something similar.

Im sure if you stick w/the profession you will end up w/multiple sets cond, wvw, pve zerk, possible ptv set for bosses like Tequatl that are considered structures so can’t be critted.
Devs mentioned we have some cond changes coming this year, no clue how it will affect PvE. Cond setup I like to use in WvW solo roaming, Zerk mixup for pve (I don’t run fotm on my ranger so not pressed for max zerk).
For pve atm Zerk tends to be the way to go or mix match til you’re used to full zerk. But like I mentioned Dungeon story/exp are all pretty easy so play the way you like.
Use gear and weapon types that compliment your trait setup, some weapon types and skills will favor direct dmg (cond like Vulnerability, cripple tend to be paired w/direct dmg weapons like GS, LB, Sword), some will be cond based (poison/bleed, etc). For example LB would not be a favorable weapon for condition spec/gear.
as for cond duration, favorable in some professions, not a fan much for wvw/or pve to actually use traits specifically for duration or sigils/runes.
Well, people aren’t going to like it, but you’re going to need 30 into the top line for piercing arrows and spotter.
Then probably 20 into second line for bow cool down reduction.
Then probably 10 into nature magic for increased chance for spirits to proc. (for frost spirit)
And you could probably get away with 10 wherever you wanted. Might want to get reduced pet f2 for perma might with leapord and more often fury with moa.(Beastmaster trait) Or increased pet boon duration (Nature Magic I think)
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, it’s sub optimal and if you’ll probably get blamed for wipes, even more so if people notice you pew pewing from afar.
30/20/x/10/x Would be what you would start with.
Kal Snow – Norn Guardian
I am aiming for PvE only. I spoke with wetpaw in game for a while and we came up with this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMMQJAVTjEVR2JWCWs2Bi1j9s/+wUkIG9Uke2nyvKhUvA-e
I tested it out last night around Frostgorge soloing everything I could find champs, Vets, trash ect… and I did incredibly well. Most times never even got touched in the fight.
One note about it you could swap eagle eye out for piercing arrows if that’s what you prefer.
I am still interested if anyone has a build that could work for this type of play style or if people would like to modify what I already have going. I’m willing to try just about anything before I settle on one specific duel bow build.
