Champion: Phantom, Hunter, Legionnaire, Genius
WvW rank: Diamond Colonel | Maguuma
The following is the build I use in WvW solo roaming. I have used many different builds through out my time as a Ranger and this is the build that I have settled on. As with any build, it is all about preference and perspective. It may work for some and it may not for others but for myself I feel this is a very balanced build capable of both high defense and offense.
Mobility via Speed runes, high damage from traps and conditions, 3 weapon evades, lots of AOE pressure, pet and weapon CC, high poison pressure (which is important against high regen uptime builds), lots of health and toughness and best of all; thieves will hate you.
Looks like a very nice build, just my personal preference but if I ran this I would go Sword/dagger, axe/torch. I love my evades with the sword/dagger combo and splitblades up close can stack 10+ stacks of bleeds easily if they crit. But either weapon set would work fine =)
No stun-break.
No stun-break.
The most effective trapper build doesn’t have a stun break, it’s one of the few balanced builds where it’s high risk, high reward.
No stun-break.
Shared Anguish. And what warriorjrd said.
Shared Anguish is only a one time save, really. But it’s better to have it than not at all. And warriorjrd is very right, it’s high risk high reward. You’re vulnerable, but trust me when I say if you hit someone with all 3 of your traps, which isn’t that hard to do, it will deal enormous damage.
I run this too.
1) get traveler runes for 10% condition duration
2) I also think this is a very offensive build. I would add a little more defense by taking 10 out of marks for Natures protection OR doing 2 traps plus sig of renewal.
Take it from experience, I’ve been running this build since traveler runes came out
Also Classes I find you should run from include Condi PU (confusion hits hard when you have SB) and Necros (you can win but you have to be careful to spread condis out over time and its a difficult fight)
Unfortunately if you have the poor luck of running up against diamond skin ele, they have the decent mobility and can hinder your run away ability
