More like disappear in general. If you move, the camo disappears. But 10 seconds standing still = camo? I like that idea.

Actually, I would really like skills that makes the ranger invisible in an area.
It would be like traps, invisible to the enemy. When I place it, a small ring around me appears. I would be invisible while in that ring but will become visible when stepping out (and revealed is applied).
Something like the Southsun Survival’s “Camouflage Kit”!
We do have a trait that applies camouflage already. I know you’re talking about a slightly different application, just thought it weird you didn’t acknowledge it at all.

Yes, sorry. I should have been clearer.
I’d like to see it applied differently—instead of reacting to dazed, knocked down, launched, pushed back, or stunned. Ideally camouflage could be proactive, rather than reactive (such as when a ranger stands still for a period of time they blend in with their background).
GW2 Definition: Camouflage is an effect that, similar to stealth, makes your character invisible. The effect functions the same as stealth, but is removed by movement. Also, as this is another type of effect than stealth, it does not trigger any traits or skills related to stealth. Unlike other effects, it has no accompanying icon above the skill bar.
The Wilderness Survival Trait: Hide in Plain Sight Applies camouflage when you are dazed, knocked down, launched, pushed back, or stunned.
JQ Ranger
Elite “Signet of the Hunter”
Passive: Gain Camouflage after 3 seconds of not taking damage and not moving
Active: Endless endurance for 4 seconds and recharge all (weapon?) skills (balance?)
Cooldown can be 80 to max 100 seconds.

I can’t see anyone using this to do anything but troll in WvW. You wouldn’t even necessarily need to rez a dead mesmer — although they could put parties of thieves to shame — you could just hide 5 rangers in a keep.

I think being masers of blending in your surroundings should be a part of a ranger’s skill set…hiding in a keep using camouflage…now that would be awesome :-)

Well, it is a cool ranger idea, but it would make WvW absolutely miserable. I for one am in favor of nerfing perma stealth thief/mesmer parties. Mesmers laying dead in keeps for 45 minutes is not a fun game mechanic.
Camouflage should be like Shadow Refuge and the field would be covered with bushes.

or anet can make it so that if your in a keep/tower then the stealth wouldn’t proc. This would make since as rangers are creatures of the wild so they cant go stealth within the keep/towers, but every where else, say 10 sec, no skill use, no moving and your stealthed. This would give rangers an excellent scouting role while still leaving thiefs with there nich.

They COULD make it so it only works in areas with normal nature type things. For example, it’ll work in Hills only if you’re in one of the snowy parts that have no pavement. For Bay, it’ll work on the grass and up on the plateau, but not on the walls or in the water (the aquabreather’s bubbles would give you away). For Garrison, only the snowy parts near the SW and SE gates could really hide you. It gives limited areas to hide in, and makes it easy to counter, especially if moving removes camo. So knockbacks would immediately remove camo, as would pulls.

I know the trait we have access to with it already is complete garbage. The stealth mechanic is superior in every way. Hunters Shot get’s stealth.
Hide in Plain Sight should be changed to stealth and the duration should be 10 seconds, given the ridiculous cool down.
Or else five seconds stealth and the ICD lowered to like 10-15 secs.
Make it so instead of going completely invisible you transform into a type of plant that is native to your surrounding. You have to use good placement so you’re not a shrub in the middle of the road, but at least that way some people could still spot you if they really tried and you couldn’t sit in a keep. I personally would love this and would scout all the time on my ranger if this was ever introduced. Doubt it would be too OP as you couldn’t move while doing it, and I would also suggest that taking any damage would remove it.
Also make it a grandmaster trait in wilderness survival, which kind of makes sense because in order to survive in the wild you usually have to blend in with you surrounding. I also wouldn’t really want to sacrifice a utility for this so I think a grandmaster trait fits this perfectly.
It is not what you do, but how and why you do it that counts.
They should put camo on Signet of the Hunt.
As long as you stand on something natural and not man made, you’ll remain in stealth.
It’s suits the theme of the class as well as of the utility.
