When Anet first announced the Ranger class, they mentioned the pets will physically change appearance n such as they grow. But the pets feel really impersonal now especially because they dont even keep their names when stowed.

Can we have the pets’ names stay even after they’re stowed? Also, can we get little top hats for pets? :P

They are impersonal for hidden reasons. My only guess is anet wanted players to play with other players unlike first gw where players could play with ai. If pets where brought to where we think they should be then everyone would be a ranger.

They were saying the player would get a sidekick/hero to travel with and would get buffed when not bringing them with. Well that obviously got scrapped early on. Maybe it’s linked to that. Also note how terrible the ai is ingame, probably another limitation.
