Can't find descriptions of top abilities
You can reset your traits at any time for a negligible cost; I think it’s 2 silver at level 80. You only need gems in this game for vanity type items and non-combat type improvements like an extra bank/bag slot, or an infinite mining pick.
The three elite skills are
-Entangle (Aoe Immobilize and Bleed)
-Rampage as One (20 seconds of stability/fury/swiftness in addition to gaining might every time your pet lands a hit for the duration of the buff)
-Spirit of Nature (Passive pulsing healing while alive and an activated ress ability and condition cleanse)
Now are you talking about the specific racial elites and the mistfire wolf?
You cant reset skillpoint purchases but don’t worry, you’ll continue to earn skillpoints when you level even after you hit 80. you’ll end up buying all the ability’s and still having more skillpoints than you know what to do with

Ahh, my mistake, yeah don’t worry about skill points. You’ll get more of them then you know what to do with at level 80.
Plus there is the addition of the randomly dropped skill scrolls.

Ah okay, there’s my confusion, I thought the elites listed were universal skills, I didn’t know there were extra racials.
I’ll look that part up on the wiki now. I saw there were two after the list of elites/racial elites, and the wiki mentioned some skill is like 30 points.
I just felt disappointed and a little burned, up to that point I was praising the structure of the game mechanics as very intuitive, as I started playing MMOs in ruins of kunark days and hated the whole mentality of looking stuff up on the web. But after spending the six points on that skill that gives swiftness, then finding out elites cost 10, and that the elite slot was open at 30, I felt ripped off – if they put that extra option there, why cant they tell you ahead of time in the interface how many points the next tier is going to cost you?
I want to play a game, not have to feel its my responsibility to do web research to know how to run the interface.
Anyway, I’m gonna check the laurel vendors and see if there’s an option there, but I doubt it. Likely all I need to do is cool off the ‘burned’ feeling, and get over the mistake. At least you keep earning the points past max level, which means end game isn’t just about endless gear obsessing.
The only thing you -can- do is level up or visit more regions specifically to complete their skill-point challenges. Most of them should not be too difficult, but you will have to explore new zones that you might not have intended to visit just yet.
I’d recommend visiting the other races’ starting zones.
It is unfortunately a sad fact of GW2 that as good as the Art Direction is, much of the interface and game mechanics are quite bad. Not having the skill cost on those you have not opened up yet is just one of many such glaring oversights.
It can be a pain, but the Wiki is very useful indeed. If you type /wiki in game, it will open up for you in a browser…about as good as it gets.

Yes, that is true, however they recently said that the new patch on Oct 15th will have a wealth of tooltip updates.
Hopefully that will help new players adjust to the numerous mechanics of this game. For example, I am almost certain a new player would love to know the exact proc rate of sharpened edges instead of going to a wiki to look it up.
Its really a minor problem, that can be rectified by deliberately seeking out skill point challenges and making up the difference. Like said you’ll eventually have every single one of them anyway, so its not so much a matter of having to choose, except in short term.
